Automating my Rivian drive modes & more using Auto-Mate by EVPLAY (Review)

Big thanks to @EV Play - Alex for sending out the Auto-Mate for me to check out. This is a super cool product that essentially automates screen taps on your Rivian infotainment.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to try this thing but it's honestly really fun.

My current automations include changing to conserve mode when I hit 70mph, switching to my profile when I get in the truck, opening my garage when I get home and raising/lowering the temp by pushing the button in the app.

Is this an absolute must buy? No, but I really enjoy it and if you're like me and have evplay, you may not want to have to switch back to your Rivian screen all the time. That's where auto-mate comes in handy.

Can it respond to weather in any way? Such as, keep climate on if away from home and it’s over 90 outside? Any time options, like doing that for up to an hour then stop.

I don't think so but that's a good suggestions.

@Alex - EV Play we should also have like a share space in the app to share routines we make. Since we all have the same screen. Could save people from extra work.

Kind of like how we can share complex Apple shortcuts? Great idea!

I live in Phoenix, so I have lots of heat-related car management desires, lol... Having a cool car interior in hot weather is a real luxury (and my car fridge staying cold). I guess I'll just order one of these and experiment, it's cheap, and I like toys.

I was blown away by how small it is - not much bigger than a postage stamp! What are people who need three USB ports in the center console doing? Currently I have the wireless phone charger plugged into one of them and my SSD for capturing video in the other.

Get the MagSafe Charging Pad from OpenSourceEV and it will free up that USB port to use for Auto-Mate.

The bottom user menu items will not be standard as they can be customized. Drive modes also vary between models. But sharing reliable XY locations is a good idea.

This idea still needs some app fixes/bugs but it's a good start.

If people have to include a video of them we can move our icons or adjust the x/y values as needed still. Or filter by model

So like, could I download someone else's sequence and put it in my app without recreating it?

Yes but it doesn't take much time to set them up. Biggest issue is that this is still pretty early software and not all issues are worked through. I'm working on tweaking some of the routines so they will click more consistently where they should. It's a good first start and a lot of work went into this project.
