One thing has puzzled me more and more over the last couple years, more so with the Rivian-VW JV Why is no one partnering with Lucid on any of their tech? There was a murmur of a deal between them and Hyundai Motor Group to supply them with Lucid drive units in their Genesis brand vehicles, but nothing about it since.

Similarly, Lucid talked about their pioneering zonal architecture even in their initial Air models, but yet, no one is trying to license it, or seemingly partner to use it. Why?

Does everyone just think Lucid isn't worth getting involved with?

Just interesting.

Is this news??

I thought there's been press release that VWG is using Rivian SW and zonal architecture for many of their brands, including VW, Audi, Scout and potentially Porsche.

In fact, is the friction with Porsche wanting more bespoke implementation that has caused an issue couple of months ago for the JV.

Or Lucid is asking too much in return. Takes two to tango.

As for this announcement from Audi, it was always expected. The JV was With VW Group (of which Audi is a part of), not VW the brand.

I wonder if there will be also any taker for Tesla FSD?
So far, I believe Lucid is going with Nvidia.
But it seems that Rivian is going away from Nvidia,
with their own own proprietary AI chip (RAP 1)

You make an interesting point. Perhaps Lucid isn't actively pursuing this opportunity as well/hard as Rivian.

They actually talked about this in a recent interview. This was very much their goal when they first started. They wanted to be a supplier that also makes cars more than anything. However, what they found out very quickly, is that they would get interest but last minute the deal would fall apart. The people at the top of those companies would ultimately nix it with "why can't we do this ourselves?"

So basically trying to keep everything in house and save money (and arrogance) is the reason we don't see more deals like this. Lucid does have very impressive engineering. I am shocked no one else has tried to make a deal to at least get their motors. Very tiny and efficient. Could help a legacy manufacturer get ahead in the game instead of playing years of catchup.

This will be a massive upgrade for Audi and one that is sorely needed. My wife's Q4 e-tron is a pile of hot garbage when it comes to infotainment/software. It's a 2023 model, so there may have been improvements in the last three years, but man I hate that vehicle. Can't wait to replace it with an R2.

I remember reading that Lucid and Aston Martin signed a technology partnership in June 2023.
But this was under Peter Rawlinson former CEO, I wonder if this is still valid?

CEO Peter Rawlinson envisions a future where only 20% of the company's business
comes from selling cars while the other 80% is focused on licensing its electric vehicle
technology to automakers looking to improve and release their EV offerings quickly.
