Edit: Added hyperlink

Has anyone installed the ConnectDER/Siemens meter collar for charging?

The unit is quite literally a plug-in at the meter socket, so installation is a breeze. I had a hard time getting cost information, but think it's about $400. The collar uses a propriety plug however, and it's not clear if the $400 I saw includes the plug and cable. Another drawback is that the unit is apparently not yet approved for use by service providers and utilty boards in many locales.

Thanks for the link @yizzung. I did a search before posting and nothing came up.

The posts in the link mention that the device is not scheduled to debut until next year. Nothing in any of the articles I read, or the ConnectDER website mentions that though.

I see you mentioned it, but around here between Xcel and local inspectors, they are pretty particular about the the specifics of the meter box and what is attached to it.

Plus it can trigger a requirement to upgrade older meters and boxes to newer style and conform to current code vs. grandfathered code from when the meter might have originally been installed...

But clever idea if it works out in ones area, particularly if your meter is in a location close to where you might want a charger.
