If your body can handle sport bike ergos, it can handle long walks.
Not sure if that was a joke, but those are vastly different things. It's also worth noting that while I can do a sport bike for hours, just 30 minutes on a cruiser kills me. I can't deal with downward spine pressure, leaning forward is awesome.

But...my "too far to walk" is really about time. I try to not be on a hard schedule during travel, but there are still reasonable time constraints. Plus there's the problem of idle fees. An example was where I stopped and wanted to shop a store that would be a 45+ minute walk, not reasonable (for me).

Or then there’s this.

The slightly-older-than-me guy that I bought the fake Segway from was trying to avoid that. He is on that line between unable to walk far/stand long, but not wanting to be "that old" to get one of those (his words). Problem is, he needs a cane for assistance and you cannot do a standup scooter with a cane and with a leg that gives out. He crashed it.

Getting old sucks, beats the alternative.

That is precisely my situation as well. If I'm charging the truck, it is likely behind a gas station. Many times, I have seen a nice-looking cafe that would certainly be "walking distance" from the charger, but I've settled for a microwave burrito or roller-grill hot dog because I don't want to spend 20 minutes walking each way to the nice place. Or the truck is at a motel charger and I want to go a half-mile down the road to a convenience store for a couple of beers. That sort of thing.

Just pay the $2500 for Rivian’s FSD and then enjoy your beers on the road before getting to the hotel. Problem solved.

I actually bought a Segway F3:

https://store.segway.com/ninebot-ki...-t4Lw0Pycvw5f3NUcFTcGJ7eLPteRoI1DWTKKB7LWWEcm

I absolutely love it. Haven't tried it in the gear tunnel but it fits in the bed with the tonneau cover closed.

I have about 300 miles on the Segway. I use it regularly.

Briefly, I'm in Phoenix most of the time but work in Tucson regularly. I leased an Ioniq 5 for that commute and usually put the Segway in the hatch, drop the Ioniq off at a free L2 charging station I found, and take the Segway back to the hotel. Once the car is done charging I still take the Segway between my hotel and office because I find it so much fun. When at home in Phoenix I've started taking the Segway to the grocery store as well as to bars and restaurants.

I strongly recommend one!

Pretty sure open containers are still illegal, despite owning and operating autonomous cars.

I can't tell if this thread has devolved into hilarity or evolved into hilarity.

I'll experiment with self-loading my machine later today. I suspect that the rated 39 kilos is a bit much to lift solo without risk. I'll look at battery removal.

Yes it was a joke. Sport bike tolerance takes time to strengthen the muscles that don't get used on a upright bike. I can ride a GS or GSA Beemer (with risers and a Sargent seat) for an 800 mile day and not bee too trashed. Few years ago dealer sent me home on a loaner K1300S which is mild sportbike ergos and I was miserable the entire 12 mile ride home. I agree cruiser ergos are the worst. Rode a VROD once and I thought my back was going to snap in half after I gave birth :CWL:

Back in the day I had a motorized longboard that I used to grab lunch while charging my 2015 Model S.

I don't do nearly that much charging in my Rivian so I haven't really had the need. Plus there are so many charging options.

I did try to get my Boosted Scooter to fit in the gear tunnel but it did not fit. It just barely fits in the frunk.

In recent years I have taken up jogging despite only reducing my 1 mile time by 5 min (15 to 10) despite feeling 4 times as drained. So I don't think its very efficient and plus its awfully sweaty.

People who have a one-wheel rave about them but as a non-owner I think they're a bunch of masochist. Sorta like people who surf at the Oregon coast. As if I'm going to believe its at all enjoyable.

If you have some juggling pins and a clown suit, you could make some money while charging.

(That device is a unicycle)
It works! 20 miles of range and it will go up to 20 mph. I have another one that will top out at 37 mph and has a range of about 60 mi. That one doesn't fit in the gear tunnel though.

It looks awesome! And it definitely serves the purpose of living in the gear tunnel until needed for a short hop. I'm absolutely terrified of it, however! But I really should test-drive one before rejecting the idea--maybe the stabilization is sufficient to overcome my dread. While I can't quite envision myself riding one for any amount of time without incurring a trip to the ER, the looks on people's faces as an overweight 60-something whirrs up on a digital unicycle might really be worth it!!!
