Is there any real threat of damaging my new R1S by charging and home using a Lectron Tesla-to-J1772 adapter?

Took delivery just before Christmas and have been charging at home with it. Haven’t experienced any problems yet, but read a prior post of an owner that fried his system using the same adapter. Wondering if that was a rare instance, or quite common.

Also, I seem to be charging at about 17 mph. And wondering if that would be faster if I plugged it directly into a 220 outlet and skipped the adapter altogether?

I've never heard of Lectron adapters frying systems before. This isn't to say it's impossible, but in my experiences, it's been perfectly functional.

The mph charge rate is dependent on the amount of current the circuit provides. Adapters are just the conduit.

I've not used the one you mention but for comparisons sake I got one from Amazon: STOKE VOLTAICS (who know if it's rebranded tho).

Been using it for about a week, always cool to touch and I'm using on my Tesla home charger too. I get about 25mph although does vary.

I would think that between the Tesla and the car it would be more likely that the adapter would fry than either of those two.

Used mine quite a bit no issues.

I have both Lectron and AtoZ : both are designed to be resilient outdoors, so the only downside I have seen is they are a B :) T to insert (extra rubber seals). I now use a Tesla UHC (updating other thread). As easy to insert as a standard J1772.

There was one thread about a Lectron going bad here but I don't remember if it was actually the cause or incidental. I still happily use mine when at hotels etc.

I've been using the Lectron with a Gen 3 Tesla HPWC since Sept '23. No issues. If I was in the market for a new wall connector I'd probably go with the Tesla Universal one, but this setup with the Lectron is serving me fine at the moment.

I bought a Lectron adapter and used it with a Tesla wall charger. It worked for about 3 or 4 months before my truck started getting error codes and stopped charging at random times. Switched to a Tesla Tap and no issues for over a year now.

I still haven’t used mine since I got my vehicle in June. It’s sitting boxed up/brand new in the Frunk beside the RV park adapter and Rivian portable charger.

it’s only going to be used at destination chargers for my use case.

if I needed to use an adapter daily, I’d probably spend more and get the TeslaTap instead of Lectron or get a Tesla universal charger so you can skip adapters.

I keep the Lectron adapter in my frunk and have used it frequently at Tesla Destination chargers at hotels over the last 16 months - never had a problem or failure to work. Often see 13 kW rates while using. It works for me. YMMV

Thanks Prime. I assumed that was the case. I will report back on this forum if I have any issues with the Lectron adapter.
