Is any inspection worth even $200? Not the free one and prob not the one where they look at all four corners and go yep no leaks.
Honestly, I've been thinking about adding it to my appointment. I'm nearing 60k miles so if they find something now, it's likely covered under warranty. Better to spend $200 knowing I'm safe than thousands in spring.

Ranting is one of the purposes of an online forum. It usually turns into a meaningful discussion. Not sure why Donald went sideways with it. I didn't post for a solution; I posted my experience in hopes that others won't get their time wasted like I did. And no, no inspection is worth $200. But I usually follow the manufactures guidelines, and the 22,500 seemed like it was one I should follow since everything after and before (except the brake fluid flush) is a 7500 basic one
One way to help out other Rivian owners would be to call Rivian on Monday, and then report back what their explanation is on why the incorrect inspection was performed. It sounds like the wrong order was put in prior to service and the tech just did what was on the order. When I have my vehicle in at Rivian, they sit down and go over the service agenda/plan while they set up the loaner/rental vehicle. Your situation is a good example of where Rivian can probably improve with an itemized list of service items if your inspection was not listed in your app - they do require you to sign the "estimate" prior to starting the service, usually sent the a few days before the appt.

For me, no so-called multi-point inspection, or comprehensive inspection is worth even $25, and it is something I never will have Rivian do. Because it is mostly bs.

It appears that Rivian treats its EVs as if they were worse than ICE cars, which are the cash cow of stealerships doing never-ending maintenance and repairs.
EVs ARE NOT ICE vehicles. EVs have FAR, FAR, fewer parts than ICE vehicles; ergo, EVs do not need anywhere near the same amount of "inspection" and repairs that ICE vehicles are hopelessly hooked on.

I saw the Rivian multi-point inspection, or comprehensive list posted elsewhere. Checking even for such trivial things like windshield chips, wipers working, brake pad thickness (the same brake pads that are beyond rarely used); that the charging-port door works, on and on and on. Incredibly absurd.

Tesla got it so right on just about everything. No such required/schedule every 7500 miles maintenance bull for my two Teslas. Indeed, in three years, I have spent $1,000 total on both and only for replacing the cabin and giant HEPA filters and for servicing the friction brakes (pads and calipers) because drum roll, wait for it, they are very rarely used! But Rivian wants to check for brake pad thickness as part of this inspection. Flabbergasting. Apparently, the Rivian "experts" that came up with this maintenance-interval scam came from the ICE world, and put the maintenance schedule on steroids.

This is not peace of mind. My true peace of mind comes from knowing that there isn't a hell of a lot of things to maintain or check on my Rivian. It is an EV for crying out loud!

This☝

That is pretty much my conclusion. Talked to rep, Rivian confirmed it was their mistake. I asked him why a tech would add a tire rotation arbitrarily for tires that he noted on the inspection that needed to be replaced (already had an appt this week for new Michelins). He could not give me an answer as to why they add the tire rotation for anyone that asks for an inspection.

Per Houston rep prices below. He also did confirm that they do offer a "comprehensive still" and doesn't know why it as removed from the maintenance schedule online and on the app.

Multi Point Inspection - $160
Tire rotation add on - $40
Tire Rotation only - $60
Comprehensive - $240

Soooo did they actually do the Comprehensive to your vehicle? Or only rotation and forgot to remove Comprehensive?

They did the multi-point for $160 and added the $40 tire rotation for a total of $200. He said that what I ordered was not added correctly by the Rivian rep and they also then failed to resend the updated order for signature and didn't have my wife review and sign the updated one upon drop off either.

No, it's gone. There used to be an entirely separate 22,500 service interval with a comprehensive inspection. This was in addition to the normal 7,500 interval.
See this thread, where I documented this:
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/no-more-22-500-mile-service.35955/
This is correct and I was also surprised by this. I had one scheduled and removed it from my WO.

now the big question. What’s the difference between the courtesy inspection and the multi point inspection? If you ask me Rivian should be doing a multi point whenever the vehicle comes in.

first, it could save Rivian money by finding a problem early before it becomes a bigger one and it also will save them from the vehicle coming back in for that issue requiring loaner/rental and SC queue.

lastly and most importantly it saves the customer the time and frustration of another SC visit.

AND if the vehicle is out of warranty and needs a non covered repair it could also save the customer money (by catching the problem early).

3 Days later, Rivian Houston finally called back with 2 options. They can do a refund of $200 but it will take 10 weeks for the refund to process :CWL:

Or they can do a mobile appointment and do the extra steps in the comprehensive (even though those steps call for the vehicle to be put up on a lift) and can throw in free wiper blades.
