I got a comprehensive inspection last week. One of the things noted was excessive wear on the inside of passenger rear tire. Alignment was recommended. I reached out to Discount Tire who said they could do the alignment on my R1T when I showed up they now said they couldn’t. I’ve had to do two alignments in less than 30k miles and at 42.5 this will be my third. This is the most I’ve done on any vehicle. Some people in other areas have said they have had better longevity at other independent shops. Curious if anybody else has done alignments at another shop in the Portland area.

The SC who did the inspection doesn't do alignments? Most alignment shops don't have Rivian's specs in their system, so they can't do it. Unless you grab & print an alignment sheet shared by one of the forum members for the shop to reference—here's one of many examples from forum search—and that they willing to work with that info, know what points of the suspension to adjust and have the correct tools to do it.

Any place with a Hunter alignment system *SHOULD* be able to access the correct information to perform an alignment on Rivians, actually making the adjustments may be a different story, not sure if there is separate hardware or tooling to adjust... This reply hasn't been helpful at all really. I'd echo the lasy poster's question, does the SC not perform alignments?

I had my R1S in for miscellaneous delivery issues at the PDX SC and they checked/fixed the alignment without me having to ask.

I haven't had them align my Rivian yet...but I have taken multiple other cars to Trackside Motorsports on Interstate in Portland. Garth the owner is great to work with. I did have them replace one of my factory tires when it got a massive puncture with only a couple thousand miles on it but...haven't gotten to the point of swapping the tires or aligning the Rivian yet.

I just got my 2nd alignment (Hunter) within a month at Firestone (lifetime deal for ~$200) with success. Just shop around and find a competent mechanic and a place that's willing to work with you. What I mean by that is, find a place that understands what mode to put the car in etc... It's no magic, but EVs are still new a lot of mechanics so most don't understand the software side of things yet. They let me handle everything on the inside from A-Z, which actually makes the one preforming the alignment job easier. It may be a challenge to find a place that's lenient for obvious reasons, but as a last resort just print out the Rivian alignment PDF and give it to the one performing the alignment. Again, it's not rocket science. There are a lot of monkey clown mechanics out there, but there are some solid ones too. You just need to find them and make sure to tip them, because they're a rare breed nowadays.
