This coincides beautifully with what he said yesterday in his fireside chat about LFP battery packs shipping early next year. Their website currently states a 2024 ship date, so that would be roughly a year ahead of schedule

Additionally, for those who haven't looked, LFP packs cannot option quad motor so this is just icing on the cake for me. Gonna ride this cloud nine as long as I can.

The fact that dual-motor and LFP appear to be ahead of schedule gives me a bit of confidence that behind the scenes, R1T is being a lot more strategic than appears from the outside. Most of what we here is delays, suppliers not cooperating, etc - but they appear to be using the downtime well to focus on future positioning. Here's hoping ?

With so many LE and early pre-order holders in limbo he is already talking about the dual motor line!
This company still cannot seem to figure out what their priorities are

They absolutely should be working on in-house solutions when they are having production constraints. We don't have insight on what the constraints are. Could be the motors.

That may be, but it’s like watching an episode of the Jersey shore. The LE holders are gonna hit the roof when dual motors start getting delivered while they wait.

Tell that to the people who ordered the Max Pack.

If it’s motors, enduro will go into quad I assume, too. The goal is total vertical integration

Your priorities do not line up with a business's priorities.

I'm not sure what anyone expected when they started production? That they were literally going to build through the LE vehicles and deliver them one-by-one? I mean, that's just entirely too unrealistic.

Only way to do this logistically is to do what's cheapest at the time and according to how many numbers can be scratched off at once.

If there's more LFP/Dual Motor configs than there are Max Pack/Large Pack with quad motors and quad motors are the hold up... why would they not try to expedite one of the few things that they can control in this weird world we're currently living in?

Really, you want leadership to focus only on what’s right in front of them? Do you have any idea how long hardware development timelines are? If they don’t start working on new products till they clear their order backlog, there’s going to be another 10 year gap before they release the next thing. New product development takes time.

I'm really hoping this video means the new motors will be in production much more quickly than originally mentioned. I'm also hoping that means they'll give me the quad-motor enduro option (as has been mentioned in a few publications) when my number gets called next year. Eternally optimistic...

Why would a customer's priorities be perfectly aligned with a business? I guess for some people as long as the LE are delivered by 2030 all is well and the company can do no wrong.

Not sure why you think this and the LFP battery would suggest they aren't focusing on getting trucks out the door. They're pumping R1T out the door as fast as they can get supplies, and have shown that. They have also said that the have finally been able to get more chips from manufacturers for the second half of the year. They're slowly getting R1S ramped up, I have some guesses why that's so slow, but it doesn't really matter. At this point, your anger is better off directed at Intel than Rivian.

Prioritizing the dual motor and LFP battery also aligns with trying to maximize production ASAP while reducing costs and improving performance. And that it is what they have decided to go with for the EDV. So that aligns eith the priorities of their largest customer and investor. They've also said thats when they will switch over to 800v as well. Which, coincidentally, aligns rouggly with the stated max pack timeframe. Could be wrong, but the stars are aligning with a hidden surprise for that config as well. Should be interesting to see how big of a change we will see with the vehicles next year.
