4runner has the wiper in the same location (at least the older generations did) and I didn't have any issues with mine.I seriously wonder how that wiper design will stand up to ice-buildup in winter prone states.
Says something about a heating element in the patent.I seriously wonder how that wiper design will stand up to ice-buildup in winter prone states.
Older 4runner does have the wiper below the rear window but it is exposed so any water would not be captured inside a recess like the R2 design shown here. Newer 4runners have the rear wiper hidden above the window.4runner has the wiper in the same location (at least the older generations did) and I didn't have any issues with mine.
Would be easy to add a rear wiper service mode to move the wiper arm a little way above the resting position.Cool find, this is a more elegant design as long at this doesn't increase the cost or make the wipers harder to replace.
Most likely will be a wiper service mode just like the front. The pocket the wiper sits in will probably have a drain hole and tube, not a big deal. The gate itself already need a drain... just like all of the doors.Cool find, this is a more elegant design as long at this doesn't increase the cost or make the wipers harder to replace.
Not a patent expert, but hopefully the wording of "may" include drainage and heating elements actually means "will" include. It would be silly to have this design and not account for rain, snow, or leaves.
ProbablyWait, am I the only one nerdy enough to be bothered by the fact that the coordinate system depicted in the patent is left-handed?![]()
Patents _do_ have their own language, but I don't think it extends to using a left-handed coordinate system. It doesn't really matter unless one uses the patent as a guide to cut a thread. It's just troubling on an abstract level.Probably
Is that an auto industry or patent norm?
hidden above is a better design all the way around. Nothing for leaves or other debris to accumulate on.Older 4runner does have the wiper below the rear window but it is exposed so any water would not be captured inside a recess like the R2 design shown here. Newer 4runners have the rear wiper hidden above the window.
