Recovery Gear + Bed Glider to the rescue!

At the end of June, we drove from San Francisco to Redmond, OR for the Overland Expo PNW. We decided to find a dispersed campsite in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest on the way north. To get to the spot Matthew had scouted on OnXMaps, we had to move some trees that had fallen across the road. The recovery gear had been packed in the spare tire well, but our Bed Glider made it easy to access what we needed and be on our way. Here are a few pics, the last one from our campsite. It was a amazing spot and a great view but the mosquitos were unreal.

How does the bed glider help?

I would think nothing can be on top of the glider when opening the spare lid right? Same as if gear was directly on top of the spare well lid?

I guess in this case it helps unload the bed since there is a rooftop tent above otherwise you'd have to crawl inside to try and get everything out. Personally I'd store recovery gear in a more accessible spot when venturing offroad. Their slider looks great but too rich for my limited use cases.

I have a similar RTT over a covered bed setup, and I got an extendable pole with a hook at the end for pulling gear in and out.

This wasn’t a spicy trail. Really just a fire road, so we were not anticipating needing the gear. The bed gliders make sliding the gear out from under the tent easy as well as give is multiple spots to lash down so everything stays where we put it.

I’ve got a spare in that spot . My recovery gear is under the back seat which has worked out well. Bed slider is a very nice thing to have!

Thanks - we love our Bed Glider! It was born out of the necessity to get things out from under a closed tonneau or the RTT. Started with plywood prototype and evolved into the current product. We also have a spare in our spare compartment but it's pretty roomy so our recovery gear and Morrflate kit fit as well. We like to keep all of the stuff that gets dirty (other than ourselves) out of the cab.

I picked up a thermacell after my last encounter with mosquitos when camping.

Now I can't say it's the location or the thermacell, but this last time I went out, it was a breath of fresh air.

We were probBly 30-45 minutes from the other spot so idk lol

Yes! It's not in these photos as we were running our Gear Tunnel Kitchen for this trip.
