Sometimes I wonder if I should just replace those torx trim screws with small thumb screws. Although like most folks I have a small torx tool kit. In my case in the area next to the jump wires behind the round cap. This approach is super cool although not useful to people like me that use the tow hitch a lot.
I mean it might be better in some future design if Rivian just had some keyed access as back up for this purpose. As it is most knowledgable people who own a Rivian could probably open another's frunk super fast. Might as well switch to thumb screws. It's not like torx screwdrivers are hard to come by. The real key to access is just knowledge.

I just tried printing this - is your son able to make this without being "stretched?" Meaning, it looks like he took the short one and stretched it longer, turning the round holes into ovals so it won't allow a hitch pin
I can ask him to... He is on Christmas break soon, would be a good project

Reviving a dead thread here, but I've been working on adapting this to the Silverado & Sierra EV, and have updated my Rivian version with all of the changes from that as well. If someone with a 3D printer is willing to test, please PM me. I'll send over the STL file. Assuming it's spaced right, I'll post it publicly and up-rev the version that I sell.

It's (much) longer and more thicc where it counts for better structural rigidity.

Rivian R1T R1S 3D Printed Hitch Receiver Box for tools / storage [STL files] + larger version update! 1749484242211-a

The Silverado EV one is in the background, BTW. Spacing is waaay different.

I'm good on testers now. Thanks to everyone who responded. If all looks good, I'll post the STL shortly.
