Following my post of last week, today was very cold and windy with 3” of snow last night. As requested I took pics this time from start and throughout my commute. The truck was dead cold when I left in the morning (hadn’t been driven or plugged in for 2 days) and I stopped throughout the day 5 times. When I returned home I had driven 94.5 miles with an efficiency of 2.14 mi/kwhr. The warmest it got today was 25F. When I left it was 14F. The battery started at 26F and finished at 38F. The roads were snow covered the first 40 miles or so (that’s extra bad for efficiency; lots of drag). I drive a ‘22 R1T Quad on 21s. I was in All Purpose the whole way. About 1/3 was Highway the rest was secondary roads. I was mostly driving at the speed limit; on the highway the fastest I saw was 65. Most of the secondary roads was 40-50ish. I took pics of the center info center before I started the trip and every stop including arriving back home. I was running the cabin heat and the heated seats and wheel the whole time. I continue to be impressed with this truck so much!

Oh, forgot to mention that there was near zero Regen for the first half of the day until the battery got over 30F. The first couple of client stops you can see the average efficiency in the 1.6x range but it keeps climbing throughout the day as the battery slowly warms up ending up at a final average of 2.14.

Spent the day at a friends house and the battery cold soaked outside for 7 hours in negative zero F temps here in MN. Here is some screen shots after a short cold soaked drive home at -13 degrees. Cabin was nice and toasty 75’F. Poor efficiency, but was only going 5 miles home.

Just did a trip to the Adirondacks and saw similar 1.65 mi/kWh over a 1,000 mile trip. I knew it would be lower than the 2.2 I normally average but thought it would be a little bit higher.

Other part is I'm amazed at how good the stock 21" tires are in the snow they handled steep snow covered hills without any issues!

What was you regen settings (high, medium, low) ? I am surprised the battery wasn’t warmed up to 50F if you were on high regen.

I have the same results as you...probably because I live about 15 miles from you.

The temps that OP is seeing aren't cold lol.

Yeah here in Minnesota we don’t consider your conditions to be “really cold.” That’s actually known as “balmy.”
Now, -30F would qualify as “really cold.”

Tire pressures drop dramatically with the colder temps… but as you drive, they warm up and the pressures go back up. You dont want to over inflate either as temps increase and then you’re over the recommendation.

Last night it was -26 on our drive back home in the R1T, it was notable as a number of diesels in the parking lot where we were at could not start as the diesel had gelled. Granted that was warm compared to the -40 at 6am this morning. No complaints with living and driving the Rivian in the extreme cold here in the Colorado Rockies.

Love all the MN heads come into any thread saying 'VERY COLD'.

Went grocery shopping yesterday and I love my Rivian =D So nice and toasty.

Dallas is unsually cold this week at low 20s in the morning. wife drove the quad r1s to work for 20 miles and got miserable 1.28. Mostly highway all purpose. I drove my dual r1t 14 miles and got 1.5
