I checked the list of manufacturers attending the PA Auto Show and was disappointed (but not surprised) that Rivian wasn't on the list. As my 2016 Highlander continues to age I really want the R2 to become available as soon as possible and was hoping that I might get to see one in person.

Is the charging speed for R2 known yet? Will it be faster than R1? And are they going to have different battery options for longer range? Thank you!

Anyone heard any updates on release date for R2? Are they still targeting "late 2025?"
I expect that will get pushed back but then I saw some comments that they are trying to push R2 and 3 forward by producing it at Normal while slowing the buildout in Georgia.
Anything more concrete?

It was always first half 2026. They were suppose to have the plant shut down in Normal late 2025 so they can start integrating R2 into the line as they’ll share the paint shop with R1 line but no updates have come from Rivian beyond the first half 26’

I'm hopeful that there will be substantial updates provided in the full year results call currently scheduled in February.

Blame Rivian for not getting the space to showcase both vehicles. I expected both to be at Detroit, but only the R2 is there (not R3 or R3X). I decided it wasn't worth my time for just the R2.

Zero Rivian presence at the Philadelphia Auto Show. Sigh . . .

Yes I know that it's expensive to participate in auto shows, but it's not like Rivian is spending a bundle advertising. Perhaps it's because Rivian sales in the Philly region are already pretty decent, with no advertising.

TBH I am sure booth space is absurdly pricey. I have some experience with shows especially at McCormick, I truly hope they did their research. My OPINION is that the Rivian buyer isn't going to the Chicago autoshow....

It was never late 2025. It was always “first half of 2026.” Anyone saying 2025 was just giving their wishful thinking.

I think you are onto something my esteemed forum colleague! Is it possible that they haven't opened up reservations for the R3 because they are worried that would canaabilize reservations for the R2?

I was a Day 1 reservation holder for R2 but the moment R3 comes online it's going to be raining Benjamins into that dead sexy rear hatch with the stripper flipper glass. ?

Same! I put my R2 deposit down to support Rivian and figured who knows what will happen by the time my order comes up - maybe I will go back to being 'SUV guy' instead of 'truck guy'. Then they rolled out that RXXX and I was trying to figure out if I could go back to being 'small hatchback guy'
