Anyone going on the 15th? Would love to meet more community members. I'm planning to be there on that Saturday assuming I can't get media access this time.

Is the charging speed for R2 known yet? Will it be faster than R1? And are they going to have different battery options for longer range? Thank you!
Every interview I saw was they are sticking with 400 volt architecture so they can share a lot of the electronics (electronics, motors, computers, batteries, etc.) with the R1 G2 in order to benefit on cost by economy of scale. Based on that I would expect charge curves to be the same as the R1 G2.

That being said, expectation is the R2 will be more efficient than the R1 so although the charge rate based on kWh will be similar it should get more miles added per hour. They have said that every trim level will have a better than 300 mile range option.

Zero Rivian presence at the Philadelphia Auto Show. Sigh . . .

Yes I know that it's expensive to participate in auto shows, but it's not like Rivian is spending a bundle advertising. Perhaps it's because Rivian sales in the Philly region are already pretty decent, with no advertising.
LA, Detroit and NYC are traditionally the three biggest shows on the US circuit. For the past decade, CES in Vegas has become more and more an auto show.

How do you know they are not spending a "bundle"? Plus, spending is relative. What Rivian spends is probably nothing compared to what Toyota spends. But to Rivian, with fewer resources, whatever amount they spend could be a lot in their eyes. They are better off holding their own events at places they have a permanent footprint (Rivian Spaces) and pop-ups. Keep your eyes peeled for those.

WTF I cannot for the life of me understand why Rivian would agree to this schedule. I l know why the Auto Show wants this but I am not gonna go twice nor pay twice.

Gotta figure out how to get some comped tix...
You go on the 12th towards the end of the day, hide in a bathroom stall overnight. Problem solved.

I suspect both vehicles will be at the Rivian space (Rush and Chestnut) shortly after and you can see it for free.

Funny and yes I have gotten invites to see both in Chicago from Rivian but never together. I love a good visit to the Windy City but I was merely lamenting the fact that I could knock them both out with one visit. And incase Rivian is watching I have a deposit on an R2 to go along with my R1 but as of now its a low probability. Seeing the vehicle in person would likely change that perspective especially since it is for the wife and she wont buy sight unseen.

Wow, I got no invites to see anything. But I agree with you that it’s obnoxious they have them on different dates…and not advisable to buy sight unseen. My reservation will only be converted into an actual order when I see enough of them on the road. Worked in enough auto plants to have no desire for an early build.

Does anyone know if you can actually sit in the R2 when it's going to be on display? If not I'm probably not making the trip.

So far nobody (outside of influencers) has had the ability to interact with the R2 or 3. I expect that to change once they are in preproduction and they have more than one or two demo vehicles.

That'll be disappointing if true.
