It doesn't surprise me at all. My 2022 R1T was the first EV I ever drove, and after a week of driving it, I was converted to EVs. BEVs are a transformative technology. ICE has reached its practical limit of technological advancement.

What does go back to mean? We have several cars. We have EVs and have driven close to 200k miles on them. And we have ICE cars, including new ones we recently bought. We buy a mix. There is no EV that can beat a nice ICE car for a big family road trip or for cruising around the US. Each still has a place. Eventually I’m sure it will be all EV, but we will need a heck of a lot of power plants lol.

1% doesn't seem right, if I could only have 1 car it sure wouldn't be an EV. I like my R1t but could never be my only vehicle just way too much planning required if I want to go anywhere more than a 100 miles away.

Plus the vampire drain on this is a killer as far as efficiency goes so much so that my ICE cars are actually cheaper per mile since they don't cost anything when not driving where the Rivian burns like a half gallon of fuel per day sitting there.

Sounds like you have a problem causing excess vampire drain. I only lose the equivalent of about 0.04 gal per day and even with that I'm still saving well over $1000 per year vs gas.

I love Rivian, but I would only buy another EV if it provides the same level of silly and excitement rivian did for me. I buy cars off smiles per gallon/kW.
i am hesitant to believe EVs are transformative - they’re more of a bandaid until we really are able to come up with a next level battery. They’re rather material intensive to build currently. Maybe we can go matrix and start using the driver as the battery? ?

i think ICE still has a lot to grow. Look at what boutique makers like Koenigsegg are doing…

OK maybe not exactly a half gallon worth, I lose about 1-2% per day which is as good as it gets. Combined with the low efficiency in winter and high electricity rates and it adds up quickly.

Yes, your issue is primarily with your local cost for electricity which appears to be in the ballpark of 3x what I pay.

I tried to like the buzz but man, not impressed…. I hope Rivian can help them out and I would probably switch when my R1S lease is up.
The vehicle itself seems very nice and Roman liked it, but the software is bad at this point.

When a VW product directs you to EA stations (which were started/funded by VW) where all four out of four stands were down, that's a problem on a road trip. It was 23 deg outside, he had to turn the heat off and anything else that burned electrons so he could make it to a EV Go station that was 11 miles away when he was down to 28mi range at the 4-stand EA station where none of the four stands worked.

That is not ready for middle America, sorry.

EA is a disaster!

My wife and I have become allergic to legacy and ICE vehicles. There's just no way either of us want to drive that shit again. The loaner we got during service was so bad, and it was a brand new Cadillac. What a steaming pile.

1%er here... I'd still buy another EV, but I also want a Raptor or Raptor R. A few more Mustangs... maybe that DeTomaso Pantera. I also really want one of the 701 1993-1994 Porsche 911 RS America's produced, but that gets farther out of reach every year.

I agree that domestic legacy auto is shit too. BMW has some nice stuff as does Porsche and Audi but Ford, GM and Dodge are all shit.
