DIY Rivian Torch (flashlight) Dual Desktop Charger

I got tired of looking for a solution and asking site sponsors, so I made my own Dual Rivian Torch charger for less than $20 in parts and some 3D design and print.

I 3D scanned and modeled the torch and the circuit board from the battery charger. I then built the charger around them.

After a couple of 3D test prints, the final prints took 9 hours.

How do you get a second torch? I mean other than getting one for free with each R1x you buy... Maybe if you're a two Rivian household - I know there are some...

Also, what's the use case that drives wanting to charge it outside the vehicle? I'd be a bit concerned that I left it at home on the charger when I eventually might need it out on the road. If I charge it in the door, that's not a problem. Maybe if you can buy spares and just like having them as a flashlight, then it makes sense to have the spares charging at home while the main is in the vehicle door.

They're kinda spendy as flashlights go, but if that what you want to have at home then this project makes a ton of sense. Especially given the rather high cost for a genuine torch and chager...

If you bought the Rivian power bank, you can keep it charged in the door and keep the flashlight on your desk.

So the ring terminal on the flashlight, are just direct connection to the battery for charging? I have a usb to 18650 battery charger chip I wonder if I can use that instead.

Should work. The battery is in a plastic enclosure and the outside contacts connect directly to the battery.
