Was back up in Sedona last weekend with my R1T. From Phoenix drove to Schnebly Hill Road and I-17 and took Schnebly down into Sedona. Schnebly is a Jeep Badge of Honor Trail. It's not difficult. Just somewhat long at 11 miles and bumpy. However, the views are worth it.

Left Phoenix at 100% charge (Quad Large), got off the highway with about 44%. Finished the trail with 42%. Barely used any juice going into Sedona even with the AC set to 70 on a hot day due to the elevation drop and slow speeds.

I would recommend the trail at least once, but be sure to air down. I could easily see puncturing a tire on some jagged rocks.

We did Soldier's Pass the next day but I'll skip those photos since I've posted some from that trail previously.

Thanks for posting...my wife went to grad school in Glendale and had a friend with a Jeep who took her on Schnebly Hill once. I always thought it funny that when we picked up a car from Avis in Phoenix that it specifically said that we were NOT permitted to take said vehicle on the Schnebly Hill Trail! I'd love to get back out there with our R1S...

Oh that looks great! My r1t came with the road tires but I think I’m going to swap those out when the time comes. I’m guessing ATs will be able to handle this trail fine?

have you done any off-roading in the valley? When I had my Wrangler I did butcher jones, sycamore, bulldog canyon , and 4 peaks. Wasn’t planning on doing anything with the R1T but I mean might as well with better tires

Interested to see how the dual max will do without the extra modes.

We were just up there June 4th. It's breathtaking up there....

You should be able to do it with road tires on your R1T. Sure, it's long and bumpy - just take it slow, and enjoy the scenery. Our local Rivian group did the Broken Arrow Trail and the Devil's Staircase, last fall - one of the group had 22" street tires, and he was just fine.

I came down it last summer in my R1T. Great trail. It's a lot rougher than it was when I was a kid. I remember going down it with my Dad several times (at least one of which was in a Mercury Comet).

What pressure did you air down too? We go to Sedona and stay in Oak Creek every year but this will be the first with the Rivian.

Nice photos!
Great trail, we recently took it in the reverse direction and ended up camping at the top of the trail with some amazing views.
For the other questions in the thread.. the sidewalls on the OEM A/T tires are pretty weak. If you’re serious about off roading I would look into something like the KO3s.

I usually air down to about 28-30.

Get/make yourself a 4-tire inflation/deflation kit with its own gauge. You'll love it. Inflate, air-down, and equalize all four at the same time. You will need closed-flow chucks. And you can still use that coiled hose for smaller tasks and as extension between the 4x kit and compressor. You'll have enough slack to air-up/down another vehicle too.
