2026.07 Software Update notes - features & fixes coming

My Gen2 R1S said it was going to update tonight… I just went down to plug it in and the update is gone.

I double checked and it is no longer downloaded.

I tried a hard reset and it’s on WiFi, but it’s gone.

Did Rivian pull the update down?

I wish they were more transparent about it.

They probably pulled it because it's a turd sandwich. Trying to improve audio quality and they actually made it significantly worse.

I'm assuming the best and brightest are working on R2 software and the people working on R1 updates are the JAGs.

My audio sounds great before and after the update. Apple Music is better. The only problem I had prior to this update was it did not sync all my phone music selections. This update fixed this. Gen 1.

Apple Music still refuses to play Spatial Audio. I guess I will forever have to keep that off.

Since the update I don't think I've made it through an entire song without at least one "skip" where the music stops for a second or two before resuming.

Strange. Have you tried restarting the infotainment, logging out/in AM?

I’ve had steering wheel vibrations on freeway speeds since i replaced my OEM tires. I took it to the SC once for service for this reason. I was told it was due to the AT tires I had installed- maybe in part but this confirms it’s more than just the tire.

What tires did you put on?

I swear the trip font got even smaller!

I feel like whatever motor driven power steering changes they made are impactful though and smoothed out what very little random shimmy here and there ( Toyo AT3 EV LT 20”)

One other thing I noticed, a message shows up in the drive mode screen while under cruise control that scrunches the drive modes to the top. The message is something like you can’t change drive modes while using cruise control.

If I have the toggle enabled, it will just skip atmos tracks until it finds a normal one.

My issue with Atmos tracks since the update before this most recent one is that when going from non-Atmos to Atmos in a playlist it will sometimes go half or more of the song with normal encoding and then pause and switch to Atmos and then keep playing. Sometimes it never switches at all on songs that I know have Atmos encoding available.

This never happened to me before the big update earlier this year but happens nearly all the time now, along with the frequent skipping that I get now.

I have exact same issue since previous update, very frustrating.
of course Rivian can’t do anything about it so you are stuck till the next update cycle and hope they fix previous bugs.

Yeah this audio bug is annoying and seems to have started the update prior to this. And not fixed in this.
