BTW @Rivian Roamer - Last night I was exploring your site and discovered the explainer page for how updates work... Great work there. Great resource to send to folks who don't follow the updates super closely or are new to rivian

ElectraFi does show in the download column before they are installed, they were just a little behind you.

I stand corrected.

Thanks! And that page was reviewed by Rivian themselves. I link it at the top of the update pages to help people grasp how this process works.

2025 Rivian R1T - Large. Delivered on November 23, 2024.

Wow! Nice update! Took my R1T to the DCFC this morning (much lower energy rates). Charged to from 42% to 90% (I got a lot of things on the agenda for the weekend) in 42 minutes! The prior charge (about the same requirement) took nearly an hour. Like the graphics and I turned on MFA while charging.

I saw the new "security shield" icon at the top of the app when I went to pull out of the charging station. Intuitive - tapped on the little icon and it asked me if I was ready to go! And on we went!

Gen1 here. Except for the slimmer taillights on the traffic graphics I noticed no difference for the “improved visualizations”. All vehicles are the same small suv and semi trucks now have a split door on the trailer.

Because the improvement was for Gen 2.

Has anyone found the button to manually start preconditioning? I searched all over yesterday and I cannot find it anywhere. I am sure it is obvious, and I will hit my forehead when I find it, but it doesn't appear to be obvious right now.

Sorry if I missed someone pointing out where it is already.

Edit: should have watched RR's video. I don't have the energy app on my display. I will need to reboot the car or infotainment. That explains it!

After this update, my Gen 2 R1S couldn't connect to my home's WiFi anymore, nor did scanning for WiFi find any networks (there are several within range). Restarting the software (both outer steering wheel buttons for 15 seconds) fixed it. If updating, you might want to leave an extra two minutes for this when next using the vehicle, in case this happens. Just FYI

I still don't have the Energy tab on my screen even after rebooting the truck and rebooting the infotainment system. I will drive around for a while and then maybe it will appear?

Anyone else have an issue where it doesn’t respect your charging schedule? Mine seems to charge as soon as I plug it in at home.

The app has always been there. You have to swipe up from the bottom.

Thanks!

After getting the same advice from a couple forum members, I found it. I did try dragging up a couple times before getting that advice but for some reason it didn't appear, so I figured there was nothing there. There is! I must not have been dragging up correctly before.

A massive bunch of meh for me. Still waiting on launch mode for Gen1.

The most useful of the limited improvements would be battery conditioning, which I might be able to really use 1 month out of the year. Most of the rest of the year my battery temps will be at least 70F. So maybe useful for some.

Maybe along with the energy stuff, I could finally have an estimate at battery level at my destination instead of the almost totally worthless DTE.

Charging times will still suck for the trucks compared to Tesla. Thank god I never use my truck to road trip much or to tow longer distances.

I think conditioning the pack might use more energy that you reclaim on the way down unless it is a really big hill. Last time I used a supercharger, even with my pack pretty warm, it consumed 6% of my charge level on the 4 miles to the charger. I would have been better just skipping that charger, slowing down a bit, and I could have made it home. I thought I'd stop to be safe but it wasted a ton of energy. A lot more than my Teslas do to condition before supercharging.
I thought the same about the value of preconditioning the battery. How much faster is it really compared to NOT preconditioning at all.

Has anyone had an issue with the drivers display rebooting while driving after this update?

It seems to happen to me once on every drive about 10 minutes in. The navigation/map freezes and the drivers display goes blank with just the speed and rivian logo being displayed. Takes about 30 seconds or so to reboot and then continues like nothing happened...
