Hi all

After 27K on the OEM 20" Pirelli's I'm looking at replacement primarily due to the road noise

Suggestions for new tires based on the below?

Mainly city/highway driving on dry roads in AZ
Road trips to CO/UT/NM for skiing and fishing
Minimal "rock crawling" - forest service roads mainly to get off the main roads
Not as worried about efficiency
Seeking quieter tire with decent dry and snow performance

Looking at Toyo Open Country AT EV (have the BFG KO2 on my T100 but seems like too much for mainly highway driving....)

Open to suggestions or thoughts

Cheers, Andy

There are already tons of threads on tires, start there. Aside from load rating, pay attention to tire weight compared to stock. It does make a difference in efficiency. LT tend to weigh more and not necessary if you won’t be towing much, or carry heavy loads, or need a tougher tire to reduce chance of rips or punctures by jagged rocks. SL and XL will suffice. And if you don’t mind downsizing, to 275/60R20 (3% smaller), additional efficiency and tire options can be had (like the gen2 factory standard Rivian-specific Goodyear Territory AT). User-configurable tire size supposedly coming in an OTA in the coming year. Wait for that and avoid paying for reprogramming to gen1 21” specs (275/55R21, virtually identical circumference as 275/60R20).

I barely got 16k miles out of the Pirellis and they were loud. Put on BFG K03 so far I have @ 1,000 miles on them are quite and handle the road very well.

My 20” AT Pirellis have gotten very loud and am planning to switch to Michelin Defender Platinums as all seasons.

There was thread in here and video comparing 4 tires... I think the Falken Wildpeak AT4's won

They were close to K02 being 2nd; I went with K03 because I do more offroading and my Jeep's K02's have been great

Found link to results

There are 20 threads on tires. I went with the Nitto Recon Grappler in the 116T rating, love them. They've only done light trails so far and a little sand in the washes South of Lake Pleasant. Seem perfectly fine. Aired down to 24.

I replaced my original Pirelli Scorpions at 28k miles - same reason, they were very noisy - with Michelin Defender Platinum. Was pleased and even astounded at how much quieter they have been. At 2k plus miles, I am pleased overall, but I have not driven with them off road (not what they're for) or bad conditions. Haven't decided whether to go with a winter tire for winter season, and off road.
