I like the parking lot analogy. When the lot is empty, it’s fast to find empty spots to park cars. But when the lot is 96% full, it is much slower to find empty spots to park the cars.
The analogy I use is as follows:

Imagine you're filling up a cup of water but if it overflows, it explodes in your hand. You'll turn the faucet on wide open while the cup is fairly empty but have to slow it down as it fills up to make sure it doesn't overflow and explode.

They did some studies on this with Teslas and there was no noticeable long-term degradation charging at a supercharger vs. home charging. Of course this is just Tesla and their battery packs, chemistries, and thermal management systems, not everyone else’s.
Utter short shit! Lies.. Faster charging will always degrade battery faster than slower charging, all else being equal.

However there was a ride-share driver who bought a Tesla and supercharged it twice a day. He ended up degrading the battery in record time, so much so that he had to have the battery replaced.
That guy featured on Kim's YT channel shows what happens in the actual real world when you fast charge too much as opposed to any biased/funded study by Tesla.

It's always been the case that you should fast charge as little as possible. If you have to, then you fast charge. But if you can help it, slow L2 charge.

Having said all that, this Gravity fast charging site looks awesome. I'd certainly go there if on a road trip and I had to fast charge in the area.

You are incorrect. The study wasn’t done by Tesla, it was done by Recurrent Auto a battery management company that had their software installed on 14,000 Tesla vehicles.

What degrades a battery is charging it frequently (like a rideshare driver) and charging it to 100% if it’s an NCM battery. Also heat is bad for a battery, so thermal management systems are key. On the flip side LFP batteries can take more abuse and are recommended to charge to 100% every now and again. And there’s even newer battery chemistries coming out all the time. CATL claims to have one that has the benefits of an LFP, but charges well in cold temperatures.

Anyway, batteries and battery packs are a very complicated matter and we need more research. Luckily companies like Recurrent are doing just that.

It's a complex topic and you need to read up on the latest independent studies and research on the topic. For the old NiCAD batteries, this was very true. For Lithium batteries without BMS, it's true. But for modern lithium batteries with BMS, it's not true. DCFC has no or very little impact.

You believe that the Tesla/Recurrent study is not legit, so read this study, or Google one of many other independent studies online. Modern lithium ion battery systems with BMS and cooling prevent exceeding a safe charge rate, which is 1C for NMC batteries that are in our Rivians.

It’s not a bad option in Manhattan.

Surprised they weren’t required to install sprinklers and were allowed to install all that combustible wood
