Doesnāt seem to be happening. If I can get a Standard down to $500 a month financed with a lease trade-in and some money down then Iām in. If not, Iām not sure what Iāll lease while waiting for the R3. The R3 Standard might not be out until late 2029/early 2030, so Iāve got a while.
Right now the lease offers are terrible for the R2 Performance with Launch Package. Iām hopeful that theyāll improve with the Premium and Standard, but we wonāt know until later this year and next year. I think Rivian wants people to buy.
Same with Ohio. This state has its head so far up its ass itās ridiculous. Canāt claim Gear Shop credit for recommending a Rivian with link due to dealership laws (Virginia is the other dumbass state that doesnāt allow this); no state incentives for purchasing an EV, in fact penalized $200 a...
They designed the R1 cross bars years before they even started development on the R2/R3. Hopefully going forward these new ones will work on the R4/R5 and Gen 3 R1. Weāll seeā¦
After watching dozens of video reviews I noticed several people saying the ventilated seats were very strong. Thatās good to hear. Does the Premium have ventilated seats as well? I know the Standard does not.
Thatās such a unique color and it goes great with the Compass Yellow accents of the R2 Performance (purple and yellow are complementary colors after all). You can really see the metallic shine in that photo, too. Youāll definitely want to see it in the sunlight and shade. Rivian describes it as...
You canāt go wrong with white, especially if you have hot weather and/or have to park outside. It also shows off the lines of the vehicle and contrasts with the darker trim nicely.
One thing dealerships realized during the pandemic is that they can charge way more money for vehicles and someone (ie the wealthy) will still buy them. They donāt have to sell as many and they still make record profits. Our economy is in the same boat according to various analyses:

Honestly customers should be able to choose any wheel and tire package they want. A lot of designers are obsessed with big wheels/tires. They look cool and fill the wheel well, but theyāre harder to find replacements for and are more expensive.
If I had a Performance though Iād hate to cover up...
EVs have instant torque, which means itās sometimes difficult parking or maneuvering them at low speeds (for some people). It took me a handful of days/maybe a week to get used to. I actually wish my Model 3 had stronger regen braking, so I could do 1-pedal driving more often. Iām glad the R2ās...
If youāre getting the R2 Premium or the R2 Standard you can get the 20" Bicolor Carbon All-Season, which claims to have versatile performance on road and off. Unfortunately it doesnāt look like the R2 Performance has that option though. Itās definitely more of an off-road capable vehicle than...
Iāve heard it described as a reverse riverbed. I think in Alaska they flattened the tops of their eskers and built roads on top of them! We have one esker left in Ohio that I know of, but itās covered in grass.
On a related note, one cool thing we have in Ohio (on Kelley Island) are these...
That makes sense since they used the blue-green of the R3X on the R2. If I remember correctly Pacific Sunset was a flatter orange. At least from a distance. Not much metallic flake. It was a really small surface area though. Iād love to see it regardless. We need at least one warm color!
