  1. New updates! July deliveries, August test drives, off road package now optional on Launch Edition, gear added to configurator

Be that as it may, the standard is still yet to be set in stone. Hardware is very unlikely to change at this point, though. Any changes can be made via OTA software updates. This is also why it could be a change that Rivian could implement via software, if the charger module is designed to...
  2. New updates! July deliveries, August test drives, off road package now optional on Launch Edition, gear added to configurator

That $450 can pay for at least 5 years of roadside assistance on my car insurance policy. ?
  3. Did you place a reservation for the F-150 Lightning?

Wow, that’s super weird. Platinum is top for just about every other model I’ve ever spec’d out, but not F-150
  4. Did you place a reservation for the F-150 Lightning?

No, Platinum is Ford’s top trim, alongside King Ranch for some models.
  5. "deliveries this Summer..." why is the Press using this phrase so frequently now?

Answering all our questions via a FAQ section would be literally impossible.
  6. Personal / Vanity Plates, Anyone?

AUGH man I’m American, je n’ai aucune loyauté a la belle province ? Did you know that the chief concern around allowing custom plates a few years ago was exactly that? People would put English on them and since they are technically government signage, that would be illegal.
  7. Anyone hear from their Rivian Guide?

Elon was but either he has changed his thinking, or someone else is in charge now, because Tesla seems to be taking things a little more seriously. RJ seems to be, yet again, the polar opposite. Rivian has taken personal protection very seriously.
  8. Personal / Vanity Plates, Anyone?

Ahem, 4 MOTEURS. The OLFQ is gonna find you!
  9. Electric F150 Lightning EV to be revealed May 19

It won’t happen if Rivian goes public, but I’ve long thought that Ford buying at least a controlling interest in Rivian is definitely in the cards. It would make a handsome exit for the current investors, and the two companies would work well together.
  10. Latch system & anchor points for child seat / boosters in R1S SUV

You got your answer, but just FYI, since 2003, NHTSA rules require any vehicle with a second row of seats must equip at least 2 seats with upper & lower LATCH anchor points, and additional seating positions must include at least the upper anchors. If a vehicle has more than 2 rows, at least one...
  11. 80A L2 charging

Yeah. You’re getting AC power from your Level 2 ”charger” (it’s just a fancy light switch with high-current wiring) and something has to convert that to DC and ramp it up to battery voltage. This is accomplished by the on-board charger. Usually, it can take up to 240V, 48A input and convert it...
  12. 80A L2 charging

This is how diesel locomotives brake, they don’t have any batteries, they just shunt the current from braking with the traction motors into a giant heat sink.
  13. Did the Lightning use the Rivian Skateboard?

It probably is a ”new” frame, but it’s probably not much different from the old one ? It probably needs stronger steel for better impact resistance and also for the weight, that battery is gonna weigh in at 2000+ lbs
  14. Did the Lightning use the Rivian Skateboard?

They are. They use the same platform (T1) on the Expedition as the F-150 but the Expedition has independent rear suspension. It’s not unreasonable for them to use the same frame for an IRS F-150, maybe even the exact Expedition frame.
  15. Did you place a reservation for the F-150 Lightning?

I think we’re far past the beginning of the end, this is the final nail in the coffin. Hub motors were a nice idea, sorry guys.
  16. Did the Lightning use the Rivian Skateboard?

Ford intended to use Rivian skateboards for a Lincoln project, probably a performance EV Lincoln Aviator to go along with that brand refresh, but they scrapped it after Rivian announced their COVID delays.
  17. Real Rivian Photos & Videos

Auto wipers? I haven’t touched my wiper stalk in my Expedition except to spray the washer… ever. Nor have I touched the fan controls. It’s set to 22.5ºC and it does its thing.
  18. Electric F150 Lightning EV to be revealed May 19

I would ditch my R1S reservation if I could get an EV Expedition with that sweet frunk. I don’t think Ford’s timeline or pricing will match up, though.
  19. Timing of New Tundra with potential for plug-in Hybrid could hurt Rivian

Yep, Toyota’s Prime line is ??. Even Prius Prime is a riot to drive in electric mode. It’s got a bigger gear ratio than the previous Prius generations, and a bigger motor, it’s really torquey. I haven’t driven the Model 3 enough to REALLY compare, but I drive my mother-in-law’s Prime all the...
  20. Comparable Used Truck to the R1T?

A Ford Raptor would be an excellent buy for a temporary truck. It’s quite a bit bigger than the Rivian but generally speaking they are appreciating in value so you stand to make money off it ?
