You guys planning running boards for the R2? I hope so. With a ground clearance of 9.6 inches, that's an inch higher than the R1S in kneel mode, which isn't easy to get in and out of for smaller people.

Based on the reliability/cost of the R1 line, not so sure. Of course we have no idea how reliable the R2 is but it'll surely be less costly to repair/maintain since its simpler mechanically. It also depends on the warranty. A lightly used R1 may have a longer warranty period than an R2 but if...
