Thanks DucRider (Gary). Thatās the first Iāve seen an Amazon page setup for a manufacturer. Iāve researched the ChargePoint and JuiceBox products. I figured theyād probably just brand one from an established manufacturer. Itās the car guy in me that was hoping to carry thru the Rivian theme...
The R1S will be my first EV. Iām thinking of having EVSE installed in my garage, to take advantage of the Federal Tax Credit, available until the end of 2020 for EVSE installation. I hope theyāll have an option to purchase any branded EVSE before the end of the year.
Iām very familiar with the experience center youāre referring to, but havenāt used it myself. Hereās the website theyāre using for Smart Columbus: https://smart.columbus.gov/
Thereās a link to the Experience Center on the site. Itās very nice, and has been successful. But, as you say, requires...
Iām a car guy from way back. Iāve totally bought into EVās and eliminating the use of fossil fuels. I was hoping for the Rivian/Lincoln version, but since thatās not happening, Iāve been debating between the 2022 Volvo XC90 Recharge and the R1S. After a lot of research, I prefer to put my money...
I made my deposit yesterday (7/1) for the R1S.The confirmation email I received doesnāt say when the configurator will be available. It just says, āwhen itās time to configure your vehicle.ā It does say that production will begin in 2021.
Iāve been on the fence. I have it narrowed down between the R1S and the 2022 Volvo XC90 Recharge. Iām not in a hurry...late 2021 or into 2022 is good.
Iām not a fan of telematics insurance, based on driving behavior, but like the idea of using it based on usage...miles driven. My carrier gives an option to have a black box for behavior or usage, which I like, because I only drive 7-10K miles/year.
I like the idea of a subscription plan...
If they plan to have their own insurance, perhaps a subscription plan will be offered, in addition to a purchase or lease. Thatās one piece Iāve been waiting to hear.
I agree with DucRider. At this point in my life, I wonāt consider any vehicle other than a BEV. Iām very impressed with the Aviator. I was hoping the Rivian/Lincoln affiliation was going to produce an electric Aviator type vehicle. Since that isnāt going to happen, Iām debating between the R1S...
Iād like to add to Markās list, # 5, re: financing. RJ mentioned the possibility of a subscription model. This would be very attractive, and could be the deciding factor for me.
I sent an email to Rivian a few days ago, asking if they will have subscriptions as an option. The person responding, said they were discussing it internally, but for the now, the only options will be purchase or lease.
Mark- You make some very good points! Youāve given me some ideas to ponder and consider. If I were to guess, Iād think youāre a secret Rivian salesperson. If not, you should consider applying for a job. Youāre good!
Believe me, Iād much rather support Rivian than Volvo. I really need to...
Yes, Volvo is developing a new XC90 BEV to be available in 2022. I really like the concept of the R1S and their skateboard platform. However, Rivian is marketing to the adventurous demographic. Iām in that group looking for the luxurious, like the Lincoln Aviator. I was looking forward to the...
Iām a huge fan of R.J. and what heās doing. He has so many bright, talented people with him, Iām confident they will be able to produce world class vehicles.
I was really counting on the Rivian based Lincoln as my first choice for my first EV. I guess Iāll move on to Plan B. . . the Volvo XC90...
Iām very interested in what Rivian is doing with Lincoln. Iām one of those older guys whoās looking for an EV, like the R1S, but has the creature comforts of, say, the new Lincoln Aviator. Also waiting to see what Volvo will do with the XC90 as a BEV.
