I also had a call from Rivian on January to see if I wanted to switch from Max Pack. I did not, so they gave me an estimate of 1H2023.
I've always had the Max Pack configured. Don't see a reason to change this and I'm getting used to the Model S with 400+ miles of range (at least on paper).
Until there is a snow / ice mode, and we can rely on the computers, driving with OPD will be a very different experience from ICE. We'll have some relearning to do. OPD allows a far more precise control of your exact speed and you can make incremental adjustments. There are no gear changes...
White is generally seen as the color that hides scratches best and is easiest to match if an area needs to be repainted.
Non-metallic is more durable than paint with metallic flakes from all that I've read.
I'm struggling with the same question. Holding out for Max Pack so I have some time to decide.
I see two options that make sense for me:
1. Take the 21's at no additional charge. Plan to purchase aftermarket 20's for snow / off road. Forged 20's, though, won't be cheap on the aftermarket, and...
Gear tunnel is probably the safest storage location on the R1T. Not sure how many thieves will know it is there. Hopefully, Console Vault will offer one of their safes for the R1T/S.
One thing to note, the 20" wheels are forged -- stronger and lighter - $1800 is not a bad price for forged wheels. Aftermarket is likely to be substantially more.
The other OPD factor is the assisted driving function. With adaptive cruise control up to Tesla Autopilot, you don't have to worry about maintaining pedal position on long drives.
I love the precision of OPD, you control by small and consistent input exactly how fast you are going at all times...
If you plan on going off road or to remote locations, nothing beats a full size spare.
Otherwise, you save weight, and add storage space, if you don't have the spare.
I keep a pump, Slime and a tire repair kit in my Tesla.
Great write up and beautiful truck. Owners sharing their experiences with the truck convince me it is the right choice.
I ordered my Max Pack one day after you ordered yours. Still holding out for the Max Pack. I keep going back on exterior color / interior color while I wait for 1H23.
The Aftermarket Tires / Wheels thread discusses this in more detail. It lists the factory offset as a whopping +48mm. https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/aftermarket-tires-wheels.4444/
Tirerack.com is now showing a selection of wheels for the R1T in 20" and 22". I'm not sure how they'll fit. Taking a quick look, I didn't see any that matched the OEM offset.
I have the 20" All Terrain as part of my Max Pack order (1st half of 2023, I hope) and have been looking for 22"...
Matte is the way to go. I chose matte for my Tesla S (front and back). I went with tempered glass covers from Elon Accessories for more protection. Perhaps more important on an adventure vehicle than a Tesla.
No film on the driver's display, but the S has a decent hood to block direct sunlight.
I find regen to be one of the best features on an EV, particularly in traffic. I found I preferred the Standard regen setting when I drove the R1T. Compared to the Model S, it is a bit harder to modulate deceleration. Something I would expect to get used to over time.
One question, when you put...
I've experienced similar problems with my 2020 Lincoln Navigator when there are 12V battery problems. If you see an almost random mix of problem alerts for systems that you have not experienced real problems with, the 12V is a likely source of the problem.
Hopefully the owner will confirm. I don't think matte PPF would change the color to that extent. If it is vinyl, it does not protect to the same extent as PPF.
I'm hoping Stek will come up with additional colored Fashion PPF (see https://www.stek-usa.com/fashion-films ). The DYNOShift-green...
