  1. Anti-EV agenda

Funny we have 2 EVs and our insurance dropped this year by hundreds of dollars. While in the beginning my Rivian took longer to service that isn't the case anymore, and it never was for my BMW.
  2. Anti-EV agenda

Shows how stupid people really are. The EV tax credit didn't apply to vehicles over 80k. Was Rivian playing games with giving people 7500 off somehow, sure but it was not available for the tax credit, that is why Gen1 buyers were pissed when the list price went up, they lost the tax credit...
  3. Behold, my two favorite pieces of NACS gear!

You are missing a chademo charger in the mix there;. only way to ensure true fire safety.
  4. Level 3 Charging 2025-2026 for Rivian R1S May Require a $300 "Accessory"

Adapters are our state for the next few years. If your car was J1772/CCS1 you would want a Tesla adapter for both Level 2 and Level 3. If your car is NACS you need the adapters for Level 2/3. Nothing we can do about it. Its a small cost lots of us have spent.
  5. Having twins and a dog, how is space in R1S?

We regularly do 3 hours drives with my wife, 2 6 foot+ boys and a 90 pound dog. No issues at all the R1S. Plenty of space for everyone.
  6. Apple Music, YouTube & the Connect+ subscription

I hear you but development costs money, period. BMW and Audi are doing a similar thing. This is the future of car ownership .
  7. Apple Music, YouTube & the Connect+ subscription

Everything is a subscription today not just this stuff. While I don't love it I get it. There is constant development that happens on this software and features that get added over time. That costs money and to cover that costs they charge for it. What can we do? Buy a firewall...
  8. Only able to program 8 garage doors

There are plenty of apps for this situation, 8 is more than enough.
  9. Rivian software is (still) an embarrassment and needs to get better fast before R2

Sorry for your challenges but this isn't the common theme for owners. I owned a Gen1 for over 2 years and have had a Gen2 for 10 months. 90% of the time the software is great and does as it should. Proximity locking/unlocking, Spotify, Nav, Charging, Gear Guard, Kneel the lot all good.
  10. Door Handle Safety

My Audi A7 had electric door handles and that was 5-6 years ago. Tesla has had it for a while. I get it but this isn't new nor shocking. Plenty of vehicles have had this,
  11. 3rd party wall chargers ok or not?

Agree with 'wall charger is a wall charger'. I would not go with a fly by night product but one that is well known and gets good reviews. Do you need a 'smart' EVSE? That is really up for debate. The Rivian controls when to charge and at what rate, not my charger. So all the fancy stuff in...
  12. Potential New Owner

Ride quality is very much about tires and suspension settings. In off-road or on the high setting it is bouncy which is expected. Overall quality is good for build and software and with a Gen2 it will keep getting better.
  13. Road salt season: what’s your approach to protecting your truck’s underbody?

The original post was about that but someone brought up the battery pack and it not being sealed. I always like to wash my car, underneath as well, after the snow is washed away because there is so much crap on the vehicle.
  14. Road salt season: what’s your approach to protecting your truck’s underbody?

Sorry but wouldn't the ability to submerge the underbody completely in water make it 'water tight'. That just doesn't make sense to me. If going through a muddy bog doesn't impact it why would salt on a road? I am sure in certain road conditions you would want to rinse it more often but for...
  15. 22 R1T used purchase questions

Ask for a service history like you would on any vehicle. Tires and 12v would be the only thing I would look at.
  16. Apple Phone Key .. update problem is push to unlock

worked perfectly fine for me and my iPhone. Sorry you are having trouble but didn't have a big issue with the app either.
  17. Universal Hands-Free can kill you! (If you don’t read release notes)

Any form of cruise control can kill you because you still have to pay attention and understand what is happening around you. There is no talk about reading stop signs or traffic lights, just more roads covered by the hands free.
  18. Gear Guard doing its job.

There is a restroom about 5 minutes away. Just lazy.
  19. Gear Guard doing its job.

Last night we get back into the Green Machine (our Gen2 R1S) at JFK airport after a week away. While charging we looked through some gear guard videos. Gary really does an amazing job showing the people pulling in next to us and ensuring I can always see if someone touches the vehicle. But to...
  20. Autonomy+ Pricing Lock includes future improvements / updates free?

The 2500 is for the life of the vehicle and tied to the VIN. The 49 a month is for your account for the month.
