I have had my Rivian for over 2 years without CarPlay and it's been fine. I haven't missed it. But I also don't want to text in my car. I just want music, maps and phone calls - and I have all that.
Mine was replaced a few weeks ago. I don't think it's that much more robust than the original design. I am going to continue to use the below Dry Lube Spray once a month in hopes that it stays functional.

If you check your orders in your Rivian.com account it will show when the adapter was "ordered" and I assume they will add tracking information when it is shipped.
Mine says ordered as of July 19th, but no tracking yet. I'll get it when I get it and be happy to have it.
Yep - They were able to fix mine on the passenger side, but it still has flutter on the drivers side. Fix has been attempted 3 times. I just add it to the ticket every time I take it in.
It's a bummer. I have used a Lectron adapter on my home Tesla charger for over 2 years now. I am surprised their adapter for Superchargers is so bad.
I got the A2Z and it's great so far.
I don't have any experience with Jeep or Dodge, but my local Toyota dealers were the same way about any after market equipment when I'd take my 4Runner in for service. And if they could blame something on "modifications" they would try that at first. So I guess I'm used to this I'm just used...
Anytime you have aftermarket equipment installed and they are going to do a service it's possible they don't want to deal with it. A lot of service mangers at dealers of other cars would say the same. "policy", etc.
I don't think it's that big of a deal. They could - or maybe will - tell...
They are giving you a free adapter. they can't control Tesla's whims. They'll send them when they get them.
If you don't want to wait, get an A2Z adapter. They are great.
Rivian will have no shortage of communication about the R2 over the next few years as the prep to build a factory line to build the vehicle and eventually deliver it.
But remember you signed up for a vehicle that doesn't exist in even a final production ready form yet. It's still just...
There's no reason NOT to do 5 tire rotation. Especially because you have a full size spare with matching rim.
And as others point out, it's nice to just have one tire off at a time when you are rotating them.
Yeah I guess I'm in the minority that I don't really love the implementation of the blind spot camera. I'm sure it's better on the refresh models, but in my gen 1 I don't think I'll use it. My eyes are better just looking at my mirror or over my shoulder.
Agreed on the drive mode symbol...
I saw this thread title and it made me realize I can't remember if I've ever even un-docked it. Maybe when I first got my truck? I can't remember. But I know I've never connected to it.
I'm going to take it out and see what else I can do with that space.
