It is software. They could easily just have the toad be powered and essentially be driving itself with steering from the tow vehicle. This toad could help with acceleration and braking which would essentially turn the tow vehicle into a hybrid.
Posting a screenshot of your conversation with a low level customer service representative is not evidence that they won't offer flat towing. The CEO stated otherwise.
Also, there is nothing about the electric motors that would prevent flat towing. It is the software.
Because of the limited range when towing, I have decided not to buy the pickup and instead build a Ford F550 based expedition vehicle and get the R2R instead as long as it is flat towable. I am going to live in the expedition vehicle full-time.
I am really hoping they will have a way to tap...
We don't know if Rivian is only just struggling with planning and communications, now do we? And the comparison is Nikola's failure to meet its own deadlines and Rivian's failure to meet its own deadlines.
It doesn't matter, because they didn't revise that. If when they realize they couldn't meet that deadline, they needed to revise it and let people know. With all the lies from Nikola and other start-ups, any lack of transparency makes a company such as their look very very bad.
That doesn't mean much. The rolling resistance is the smallest impact on range. An 11,000 low profile trailer will have considerably less impact on range as a travel trainer with solar panels and air conditioners on the roof.
It says 440V in the subtitles. Also, they filed a patent showing the use of a 450V battery that could be charged at 900V. It is really simple. You just have two 450V packs in parallel to operate the vehicle, then switch them to series for charging. It wouldn't be 440 miles while towing. We...
