Gen 2 Large pack is smaller(16%) than Gen 1 Large pack. Part of the marketing illusion of using the word Max on the now 7% larger G2 Max pack over G1 Large pack. Sure...Max is a big jump to G2 Large...but not so much to G1 Large.
I would expect it to be somewhere around 1/3 or resistive but I don't know much about heat pumps in vehicles.
Ultimately the heat pump is nice add for sure....but it's benefit is somewhat limited in that the size of battery and power to move vehicle is many magnitudes greater than heating...
This is why I wish they would do the math and have a charging routine that would trigger charging prior to departure whatever the math says.
If the math says it needs 5 hours to hit target charge level...start 6 hours prior to time of departure.
Free heating like you said!
This is excellent to know! I have noticed it not heating batteries when it used to for sure.
Mine hasn't dipped low enough to hit that threshold. One of benefits of scheduled charging for 10pm. Typically residual heat from charging when I use truck in am.
People's observations are making this all hard to decipher...
On one hand you are indicating G2 visuals are much improved.
Yet other poster with G2 says latency is a concern where my G1 works very well with minimal latency?
I thought the G2 processing power would have made the G2 super...
And here my theory was Jeff Hammoud has a secret love affair with Dodge Chargers and has an alter ego that likes to go to Street Takeover events. This thing would be epic at one of those....
Definitely possible....
I would like to see more differentiation for the Halo G2 Quadmax. Color is one way to accomplish exclusivity.
I do think most are forgetting that many of the components are supplied to Rivian painted so that does complicate things a bit.
Mirror caps, front bumper...
I am putting my money on this just being done for a specific purpose and not a production color.
Seems to me the sales on this would be extremely low...thwt this would appeal more to the "look at me" customer that wants to be seen in what they drive as some type of statement of wealth and that...
Great question....if I had been on the team that made this decision I would put my position on the line to defend treating the rear seats exactly same as fronts.
Edit...just want to make sure it is clear I do not work for Rivian and this is personal opinion only.
Especially with a 426....and a manual. I could spend foolishly on one of those....even in purple. Purple is better on a muscle car than a elegant SUV, etc...at least to me.
This is very insightful....
It would be a cool offering in the Gearshop...money making opportunity. Branded stuff.
But...Rivian would probably have to put some disclaimers on it like....don't exit a stranded vehicle on a multilane highway in the dark to try and set this stuff up, etc...
Definitely not! I love options! More the merrier! Just purple..not my thing on such an elegant vehicle. More something I would consider on a GT3 but even then....probably wouldn't go that direction.
But It will be fun to see on road anyway!
It this point it isn't much....my G1 works great for all uses I have had so far.
G2 has ability to change lanes on signal activation if that is something that interests you. When I am in heavier traffic I take over anyway so for me auto lane changing is nothing more than a party trick.
Future...
I showed my wife and her response was "you absolutely will not get that color...looks like a eggplant.".
I like wild colors too....just not this one....
