True. I probably should have just said to whoever posted that G2 infotainment processors/s are very different from G1 infotainment processor/s to show their work in the first place.
Since you saw all those responses about how many posts do we need on this topic, etc... you can easily conclude that yes...Rivian has a service problem...and hopefully they will keep improving.
I'm not arguing the point. Just stating it. Also said maybe I am wrong. Just recall seeing others say G1 and G2 share the same capabilites regarding infotainment.
So all good by me. If G2 infotainment processor is vastly improved that is good, because I think it should have been improved...
Except that the infotainment architecture is exactly the same...so all that likely can remain very similar if not straight up same.
The updated architecture is mostly going to benefit ADAS functions eventually. Hopefully alot more than turn signal assists.
Getting out of a stranded vehicle in a lane of traffic to deploy safety triangles and road flares is still not safe.
I guess that is what Donald is saying ...that he agrees that this is a safety concern....so as such people should carry triangles and flares because this is unsafe, but it is the...
I am also in the 'why" camp on those door buttons. I strongly prefer the G1 manual releases....and would be much happier with a proper audio system for the price point of these vehicles.
Rivian originally did with Meridian...and it is an excellent audio system. But apparently cost was ti high to justify for vehicles that get into 6 figures easily. Still wish they would put an audio system in them as good or better than the Meridian...and I feel it would appropriate for this...
So the one use case I can see the buttons be superior to manual releases...and it would be a pretty novel approach...would be if in the event of airbag deployment...that all the doors would release regardless of lock status, etc...
That would be an improvement that would help both for kids in...
I took a look and G2 child lock is electronic in the settings as you said. So the benefit would be making it electronic likely saves cost. Trying to think of use case for ignoring the setting (which could be automated now with electronic child safety overrides) and I can't come up with much...
But the rear handle would work like the front one....just with ability to override its use with a child safety lock in the door frame? It would work like every other car then...and when adults or children that are wise enough not to open doors of moving vehicles are going to ride in back....then...
Does the Rivian allow manual brake torque vectoring? I haven't wheeled my Rivian so curious. In All Purpose or Sport (know for launch use) it won't provide power if brake is pressed. Maybe the offroad modes do?
