R2 cargo area underfloor storage compartment size = large enough to fit small body

I haven't seen many looks at what the R2's cargo underfloor storage space can fit, but looks like it can fit a lot -- yes, that's a child's body in there to size up the space!

Ok, maybe this is a dumb question, but don’t those portable fridges normally have a fan and require ventilation? Seems odd to stick one in a relatively enclosed compartment.

They also generate heat along the exterior, which seems like it would compound while being enclosed with little airflow.

Again, I have no experience with these so I’m just curious.

Yes, they certainly do! (There is another thread somewhere where I’ve made the exact point about need for ventilation)… but, that doesn’t stop ppl from using the space for that purpose AND possibly leaving the top open and using the top of a fridge as the “floor” for other items that could still allow for some if not fully enough ventilation.

I keep a compressor fridge/freezer unit in the subtrunk of our R1S, but I do vent it when I actually turn it on. I either tilt the cover at an angle so there are openings on the side or I use my risers to make the cover completely flat.

I checked the temperature in the subtrunk and it was about 20 degrees warmer in there than the rest of the vehicle (90 versus 72), but not too bad. The freezer got down to 5 degrees and didn't seem to be working too hard.
