Given you have other vehicles to use should the Rivian need repair, I'd say you can chance it. If the Rivian was going to be your only vehicle, I wouldn't get one. I'd for sure see what Rivian has to say about your situation. Likely they would point to their mobile service guys.
I'm sure some of you guys know this already but way back when the auto industry was first born, there were electric cars. Along with some other power sources like steam. It was a wild time.
You poo poo this, but this is a complaint I have heard before. My own daughter even complained about it when I let her drive my truck. I don't see this as a big deal, especially if it can be turned on or off per the drivers preference. And there are drivers who like the creep because that is...
I have a gen 2 and the cruise control worked fine for me. No complaints outside of having adaptive cruse would have been nice. For the brief period of time when the truck did not recognize the trailer, the adaptive cruse did work and I don't understand why they don't allow it during towing.
This kind of stuff is not my forte. Just wondering if there are any implications from this. Like could VW be considering acquiring Rivian? They already have a joint venture going on.
I just got back from a 900 mile round trip where I towed another car with my 2026 R1T tri motor. Towed trailer and car was about 7000 lbs (per the truck). Drove from Chicago to Bowling Green, KY and back. Just used a ball hitch, did not use a WDH like Rivian recommends for trailers over 5000...
A quick comment on my towing experience so far. I did a short test run on the towing to make sure there are no unexpected issues. Drove with the radio off and I could hear the electric motors. They kind of sound like little jet engines, kind of cool.
To add to MaskedRacerX's reply, the fancypants (read more expensive) EVSEs can control the level to which the vehicle is charged. But given that the vehicle does that, I feel that is an unnecessary expensive feature to pay for. Personally, I got the base Grizzle-E and works great in addition...
Yea, I didn't learn about Old Orchard having R2s until the day of the event. So not the best job communicating there. I just chalk it up to them still being new to these things and still learning.
That's weird to me that Borealis won't be a launch color. It has been in production already on the R1s. I wonder if there is some behind the scenes technical reason for that. Even though it was always touted as a short term color option, two months always seemed to me way too short of a time...
This is an interesting problem for them. On one hand they could have used that reservation system to limit the number of people. Then the problem would be that they were denying a view for people who are interested in the R2. Not ideal. The other hand is what happened, people upset they had...
As far as the pumping gas anecdote goes, I have had that happen to me a couple times in my lifetime. It's a credit card system issue. Doesn't have anything to do with that you were buying gas.
Can also confirm the Old Orchard location has 2 in the colors mentioned. The blue looks better in person than online. There were a decent number of people there when I got there so it was hard for me to take pictures. A few of the blue one are below.
It's a decent sized vehicle. Smaller...
Oh? I was under the impression only the downtown location would be doing this. I'll have to check out the Old Orchard location as it is not too far from me.
