Painting the Panoramic Glass For Heat Reduction

There is a gentleman on Facebook who didn't like the heat coming in from his "sunroof"...so he painted the exterior of it white.

Of all the possible solutions to roof heat, I'd have thought this would be at the bottom of the list. What say you?

Late to the party, but does the Rivian get any hotter than a regular vehicle due to sunshine? The consensus of this thread seemed to be that most of the heat was due to the windshield not the roof.

I would have done a color match wrap if you didn't like it. It is still sad the Electro chromatic didnt come on the truck and I really hope we are able to upgrade to that some day or they build the truck with a retractable cover.

I would think installing a highly reflective mirrored tint on the outside of the roof with the mirror facing the sky would provide the best performance. It's strange nobody has done that or at least commented on doing so on this forum. It's cheap to install, removable and should blow away the performance of a painted roof or tint conventionally installed on the inside of the glass roof.

I think a roof shade is a no brainer for the Rivian and it's very disappointing none is offered ... Having one on my Lightning makes a huge difference (closed vs open) in my year round hot climate. Are there any third party options available?

Preferably the ones they use on full body wraps for advertising, which you can see through because of the millions of tiny holes. They could do it with flags, like the mini used to have.

Exactly! That would be perfect. I plan to try out one of the interior screens when I get my truck. That might be enough right there.
