This feels like a lemon. Why don't you ask for a buyback? I wouldn't trust this vehicle after such a major repair right after purchase:(
I bought a Chevy Bolt within a few months of production. Within a few weeks, it developed a creaking in the steering column. Turns out, there was a clamp that needed to be tightened on the column in the motor compartment. To do this, they had to pull the entire drive motor and steering rack. I threw a fit with GM corporate. I was concerned about future issues resulting from the motor and steering being uninstalled and reinstalled a month into ownership. GM corporate extended my bumper to bumper warranty to 100k miles/5 years. They earned some points for that one. Of course, 3 years later, they bought the car back from me because of the battery issues they were having. (Basically cost me $0 to own the car for 3 years.)

Maybe see if Rivian will do something similar since it is such a critical part being replaced so early into ownership.

That person never got a drive motor replacement. You missed their followup

happy update: I have my R2 back. Engineering eventually decided they didn't need to replace the front drive unit. They say a future software update should solve the issue I experienced.

Feels like these charge ports will get a redesign at some point. Mine has started making this noise when hinging. Also was never really aligned from the factory, next service I’ll have them attempt to fix it.

I feel like the people on this forum who say that we're making a mountain out of a molehill with the charge port door are gaslighting us :CWL:

Such a nice car otherwise should not have such a consistently bad charge port, especially since it’s something you have to touch and use almost daily.

" Critical Battery Issue" warning message on an R2 that then required a tow. HV message first and then apparently the 12v battery drained down too. They were able to power up the 12v with jumper cables to disable parking brakes.

Battery pack replacement?

This one turned out to be a bad wiring harness so nothing major like the main pack or even the 12v battery. Those were just symptoms of the harness.
Turns out it was a cable harness issue. Communication failed between the multifunctional south/rear module and the HV system. It caused the DC/DC converter (12v system) HV contractor to open which means 12V battery wasn’t being charged so indirectly it was a 12V battery issue.

Service team was able to isolate issue working with Rivian engineering and to confirm they really had it resolved. They took the time to put back the suspected harness and replicated the fault.

I think a pick up check list would be a good idea. Especially for those of us who have never owned an electric. Does one exist? If not, how do we start one?

I am wondering what you will do if you find anything broken or misaligned.

Depending on the gravity of the issue. If it's a major issue, I leave it for resolution. If minor, I'd make an appointment to have it fixed. What would you do?

I'm not sure they'd deliver a vehicle with issues serious enough to make someone refuse it, but I'd probably decline delivery over noticeably misaligned panels or deep scratches. I don't want to deal with body shops on a brand-new car.

Makes sense to me. Thanks for the feedback.
