Speed isn't all that important to me, but it's surprising how well the R2P compares to the MYP, clearly Rivian's shooting against a benchmark.

I absolutely love that the R2 is a brick, it makes this achievement even more absurd. Model Y at least looks aero efficient so matching the 911 in acceleration isn't as absurd for it.

This is great....but irrelevant. Sure, I love my HP and such. But on my 5 mile commute, do you know how much I needed to tune my Type R? I didn't. I don't drag race. I road race once a year for fun.

So the R2? That's a commuter car. Is it cool that it's fast? Sure. But so was the RDX. Wife loves that car. But...looking forward to a major upgrade in the R2 and NOT from a performance standpoint.

And then I would NEVER buy a tesla....not going to support that. Sorry.

Agree. I'm sure it's a point of reference for a lot of people but I cant honestly tell the difference between 3 sec and 4 sec. I can however, legally, tell the difference between 75mph and 155mph. Cheers.

Rivian is also far from being a beautiful car. The headlight design and placement look awful, IMHO. American and Japanese cars are not very beautiful in general. Maybe it has something to do with the surroundings. You probably need to live in Italy to be able to make beautiful cars

For me, after owning a Quad and a Dual Performance R1T, the R2 from 50mph+ is crazy. Of course it's nothing like a Plaid but the car has some serious kick on the freeway. Way too much for what my wife needs but at least she has the option if she chooses to use it. lol

I’m buying a car, not joining a religion. I can like the R2 enough to consider buying one and still think the headlights are ugly, the efficiency is disappointing, and criticize whatever else I don’t like about it. Blind brand loyalty isn’t a requirement for ownership.

Maybe. Or maybe I’m doing the apparently radical thing of researching a $60k purchase before buying it instead of convincing myself every flaw is actually a feature...

If I eventually decide the negatives outweigh the positives, I won’t buy it. If I buy it and end up unhappy, I’ll sell it. It’s a car, not a marriage or a loyalty oath.

Doing research is the same thing as only posting negatively about a brand and vehicle. I got it. You seem very well informed about all of the negative aspects already. What research are you hoping to do?

Fair point, you’re saying I mostly post about the negatives. That’s probably true. The positives are already obvious to me and are the reason I’m still considering the R2.

What I’m researching are the things that could make me regret a $60k purchase...long-term reliability, real-world efficiency, build quality, service experience, software issues, etc. I don’t really need to research the things I already know I like.
And I don’t feel the need to add a compliment every time I criticize something just to make my posting history look balanced.

You’re mixing up regret with being trapped. If I buy it, discover issues I can’t live with, and sell it six months later after eating depreciation, taxes/fees, and the hassle of switching cars, that’s exactly what regretting a purchase looks like. Selling it is just the exit strategy.

And I’m not trying to convince anyone else to regret anything. I post what I find. People can make their own decisions.
