Just got back from a successful road trip in the R1T driving from Bend, Oregon to Las Vegas, Nevada for a work conference. We left on 8/15 at ~7pm and drove through the night, arriving in Las Vegas sometime close to noon. On the return journey we left LV at ~8am and arrived back in Bend at 1:30am. Encountered light rain on the drive to LV with thunderstorms in the distance, on the way back we ran into a few thunderstorms with one causing some mudslides along NV-278. Average daytime temps were probably 105-110º.
Mostly used Tesla Supercharging network with member pricing there/back driving through eastern Oregon and Nevada. I think we spent $200-300 on charging round trip. No issues with the car but we did encounter "Charging speed reduced due to station" maybe 3 times. The first and third was resolved by switching to another stall, the second I used a spare adapter we kept in the vehicle. The last leg of the trip (first leg coming back) between Ely, NV and Las Vegas, NV was a little nerve-wracking as routing told us we could make it in one go but would arrive with <10 miles to empty. While technically there was an L2 charger halfway between, one stall reported broken repeatedly on PlugShare an when we drove through the other stall was in-use by a VW van. Reduced our speed and made it with ~32 miles to empty both times.
One funny experience on the drive was going through the part of OR where the time zone switches to MST from PST. Rivian's nav didn't know how to handle the time update so the ETA was way off.
Overall I would recommend it to others as a fun experience. Lots of BLM land to explore along the way if you want to take it slow and easy driving otherwise (if a little boring). Apps that came in handy were Rivian's built-in Nav and ABRP for routing, and PlugShare for recent station status.
Favorite Charger = Carlin, NV (lots of v4 stalls, clean bathroom, dog park, etc.)
Least Favorite Charger = Burns, NV (largely because both times we were there in the middle of the night and nothing was open, the chargers were seemingly slower than normal).
