This guy turned into an instant follow for me a few weeks back. He's been detailing his experiences with the R2 without sugarcoating them. His software bugs/annoyances is a good, relatively quick watch

David is a member here. And his videos make me feel no rush towards getting my order in.

Hey! I’m just trying to share my real experiences. I do love the car, and it has already improved quite a bit since I took delivery. I do seem to be somewhat unlucky with regards to bugs, based on talking to other R2 owners online. I do have a friend IRL who took delivery in the last couple weeks and also has had some bugs, but he also loves his car.

" Critical Battery Issue" warning message on an R2 that then required a tow. HV message first and then apparently the 12v battery drained down too. They were able to power up the 12v with jumper cables to disable parking brakes.

Battery pack replacement?

I noticed some vent/drain holes in my tail light and assumed they were to prevent humidity build up. This looks like there might be proper water intrusion/bad seal though.
Can anyone else confirm that their tail lights have little holes too?

The little vent/drain holes may be completely normal, but visible water inside the tail light like that is not normal under any circumstances. Those vents are there to manage pressure and minor condensation, not to make standing water inside the housing acceptable.

Two reports on FB of a screeching noise on the R2 while in motion. May be some issue with a half shaft.

“Your right rear (or left) halfshaft is pushing past the circlip groove and making contact with the drive unit case .”

This person updated and it was a simple fix. So the person that earlier reported a half shaft issue may be a one off.
Oh good! I don’t want to see major issues repeating

I’m still glad I’m waiting to order. I did the super early thing with my first Model 3 and spent way too much time at the service center.

Here's my take: maybe 7,000 or so VINs have been delivered already. How many users have reported real problems? 10 total maybe? 20? That's a 0.14% (10/7000) or 0.29% (20/7000) real problem rate. Those with no issues go about their day quietly. Those with major problems get posted to social media.

There’s a chance that thousands of people have reported problems and are waiting for service while their cars are sitting bricked in garages. Those people just don’t have Facebook, Reddit, or forum accounts :)

Ours was delivered 8/11 but we haven't really driven it much. 1 longer drive and 1 to PPF shop. But it feels very similar drive/feel as my previous two R1T's. I do miss the height adjustment but the smoothness of it makes up for it in a lot of ways.

The things/issues that I've had so far are more fit/finish issues. The tailgate on the right side lines up while the left side is off by over 1/4". Some of the roof panels are sticking out a little more than other areas. Some of the exterior plastics have slight defects on them - but we only noticed because of applying PPF, so this isn't a huge deal. I am baffled why they didn't do a blackout package for these. I guess I'll have to find a way to do it myself.

Finally just missing features which need to get added such as being able to set the lift gate limit - which is a huge one for us, preventing us from being able to open it in the garage.

thousands :giggle: ok lol. Most people go searching the internet for answers when their brand new $60,000 car is bricked after 250 miles.
