I originally switched to EVs because of environmental reasons, but stayed because of the superior driving experience. You just gotta convince buyers or their superiority over ICE. Oh and to stick it to big oil.

If the R2 had lots of manual knobs, air vents and Carplay....would that of swayed you to stay EV?

I would've given it a serious look! I was looking at F150 Lightnings and almost pulled the trigger on one. I thought those were a great example of a "real" truck with an EV powertrain...a perfect combo! But I thought a red Bronco would be a bit more fun for a midlife crisis car.

I think people would love EV driving if it came in a "normal" package. Rivian comes very close to offering that, but it still always felt like I was driving a computer. I wish the F150 Lightning would've had more commercial success so other traditional auto manufacturers would follow suit.

For 40 years I felt I might want a Porsche 911. I’ve looked at used ones online from time to time. In a coincidence of timing an ideal 2019 used one came up for sale at the local dealer a few days after I took possession of my R2. Scheduled a test drive and went there with my checkbook in my pocket and was prepared to buy it then and there if I liked it. I did not. The R2 is much more fun to drive than even a 911. Can’t see myself ever buying ICE again.

Crazy. I’ve had 6 EVs since 2012. None drove better than my ICE sports cars from a driving enthusiast viewpoint, that includes a 911 and my current Lotus. To each their own I suppose.

Great choice! I really wanted a manual Bronco. I know they have manuals, but they're hard to find. And I had a very specific color configuration I was searching for and there were no manuals available in that configuration in a 500 mile radius. Love driving a stick!

This is the attitude that put the EV industry in today's decline. Regulate a personal choice to the point of alienating the "other side". Then when the "other side" inevitably gains power, they push the pendulum harder in the opposite direction. Proven time and time again, overzealous regulation is self-defeating in the long term.

My Sierra EV has plenty of buttons but I prefer the clean look of our Rivian. The Rivian assistant can do pretty much anything you ask it to.

I'm not sure I'd agree there was overzealous regulation other than California maybe. Lack of regulation just makes the billionaires trillionaires and fuels corruption. Won't be long before smog cities are a thing again.

Yes, I'm very specifically referring to policies implemented in California and adopted by several other states.

Make cars great again! Can someone drop an EV drivetrain in a late 90s 2 door Tahoe or Bronco Eddie Bauer. I'd buy both of those!!

I pay optional extra money every month to my utility company in Michigan (DTE) to subsidize their renewable energy (solar/wind) growth in a way they try to make you feel is compensating 100% of your energy use. This made me feel somewhat better about the fact that some of the math shows my "carbon output" from the Rivian electric consumption wasn't any better than my decently efficient gas sedan before. Ultimately, I am supporting a utility company that is still primarily coal based.

I've since bought a Porsche Boxster because I am a driving enthusiast, and the manual sports car is just simply more engaging and fun. I daily the Rivian, and nightly the Porsche. OP should have bought an R2 instead of the Bronco, if they wanted the best one car solution in that relative size. They might switch back in a couple years, so yeah, let's not alienate anyone.
