Yes, XCare. I was told the same thing that’s mentioned in this Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/s/WrI3oW7LN7

“Because they are a dealership based in Texas, they can’t sell directly to California customers.”

That makes me wonder whether any California customers who were sold warranties might need to be refunded.
There's also discussion of being able to sign up if you have a non-California address you can use. I might just have to use my brother's address in Colorado when I get XCare. Luckily, for my Rivian, I have another 2 years, but my Lucid's original 4 year warranty ends in December. No way I will keep them without both having some sort of warranty!!!

I am considering getting the X-Care in about 2 years. Want to let my factory warranty get to about 55k miles before I decide... Assuming some Colorado hail storm doesnt take it out first!

For reference if anyone is interested...

2024 Rivian R1S LE Quad with just shy of 31k miles.

FYI not sure if it has been said already, but Rivian extended warranty (powered by Assurant) is now available to purchase in Florida. I just bought a 5yr unlimited mileage plan that includes a single instance of replacing small maintenance items like break pads, hoses, wiper blades, fuses/bulbs, and wheel alignment. Cost was $6600 w/$500 deductible including tax for a 2022 R1T w/53k miles. Also includes Emergency Roadside Assistance reimbursement and it is transferable. The closer for me was that suspension DAMPERS are specifically included!

Where can I find a list with X-Care of what is/isnt included? @epowermarine brought up a good point, I want to know that those dampers, calipers, hydraulics, and air compressor, are specifically included.

I just went to the XCare site, entered my vehicle info and my info as though I was starting the purchase process. In the "Review & Confirm" step, it lets you download the draft contract that shows everything included & excluded.

There's also a sample contract linked on their page, but it looks like it hasn't been updated since 2023 and I wanted the most up-to-date to peruse.

So in another thread, a owner says he read the X-Care contract, and it only covers covered components for 1 failure...

https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...now-available-in-48-states.61789/post-1059024

I am also trying to verify this, as we know the dampers can happen multiple times in a vehicles ownership.
I did verify, once a covered part is repaired, it no longer has coverage....

V. LIMIT OF LIABILITY (Section V Paragraph 2): If J.D. Power is no longer available, a successor entity or an equivalent nationally or regionally recognized Vehicle valuation guide may be used based on the territory where the Vehicle is principally garaged – or any source the Administrator reasonably believes accurately reflects the Vehicle’s value in that territory. Once a component has been repaired or replaced, there is no further Coverage for that component.

That additional line item must be new. My contract does not state that there is no further coverage on a replaced component. This is what Section V states on my contract:

V. LIMIT OF LIABILITY: Our total liability for benefits provided under this Contract, which shall not be reduced by an applicable deductible, shall not exceed the lesser of (i) the actual cash value of the Vehicle at the time of sale; (ii) the J.D. Power Valuation Services equivalent to the actual cash value of the Vehicle at the time of sale; or (iii) the Vehicle Sales Price of the described Vehicle as listed in the Declarations Section of this Contract (excluding tax, title, and license fees). Our liability for a single Breakdown, which shall not be reduced by an applicable deductible, shall not exceed the lesser of (i) the actual cash value of Your Vehicle determined immediately prior to the Breakdown; (ii) J.D. Power Valuation Services equivalent to the actual cash value of Your Vehicle determined immediately prior to the Breakdown, or (iii) the cost of repair based upon national labor and parts manual determined immediately prior to the Breakdown. Our liability for incidental and consequential damages including, but not limited to, personal injury, physical damage, property damage, loss of use of Your Vehicle, loss of time, loss of wages, inconvenience, and commercial loss resulting from the operation, maintenance, or use of Your Vehicle is expressly excluded.

I purchased my contract March, 2025. As others have mentioned here in the forums and on FB, XCare has stopped selling contract in CA. XCare will be increasing substantially, very soon, due to the numerous claims with suspension parts. If you're in a state that XCare is available, read the contract fully and decide if you want to purchase it now, before the rate increase.

I have attached a copy of my contract, minus page 1, with my personal info. I did pay $7967 for a 6yr/100k mile/$0 deductible. It has worked out for me already as I have had over $14k in claims so far. Damper, half shafts, tonneau cover, just to name a few.

I was just able to get a quote from them in California and they reached out to me via email & text to follow-up, so it seems like they might still be selling here 🤷‍♂️
Last week they told a BARC member from Newark, that they weren't selling in CA anymore. He submitted online, then it said for him to call, where he got declined. Another member from Sierra Nevada RC was denied too. It guess it varies on who you talk to.

That's worrisome... I was really hoping to wait until early next year when it gets closer to my 5y to make the decision.

So I got an email for X-Care, asking the typical stuff, and if I was still interested.

I responded, "You have modified the terms of service since I last looked at it last year. Not sure I am interested anymore."

They responded just this moment with:
Did you see that on the Rivian forum? By chance, did you see our CEO's response to the change in coverage and that we are reverting back to the previous more favorable contract? He responded guaranteeing that our contract that is current better than all others available will revert back to the previous iteration.
I have not seen anything from the CEO? Has anyone else?

I haven't seen any response offhand. I'll try searching when I get back to a computer. That'd be awesome!

I emailed them back, and this is the response:

I don't have the post from the Rivian Club handy, but this has been addressed in both forums already and with the heads of several chapters of the Rivian Club, who are very happy XCare members.

See the screenshot below of the very topic that was addressed on the Tesla forum by our CEO. Irrespective of the contract language, a public post by an executive is enforceable.

I'm happy to chat through this in real time if you'd like, my personal cell phone number is 949-813-****.

After some careful thought, and searching of the forum here...

I responded to that persons email with:

I mean, you can say that, but at the end of the day, contract is law...

What someone says on a forum is hearsay.
