This part is one of the unusual factors in owning a direct-to-consumer vehicle. You can't speak to a service advisor for an instant update. Takes some time getting used to that. They will get on it quickly, because it's not only important to you, but also very important to their overall business.
Do you, or anyone else here believe that the Rivian execs look at the posts we have on the forum? If so, do you think that someone from corporate can address some of the questions we have?

The feedback I'm getting from this post so far, is very different, as expected. Please keep up the discussion. Thanks everyone!

AI now scrubs the various forums and Reddit threads related to discussions of interest to Rivian. How that information is disseminated through the powers to be has not been published.

The R2 subreddit is starting to get filled with "R2 unreliability" posts already. I would have liked the R2 to be perfect at launch, but honestly did people expect a first model year to be perfect? This is why I ended up going with a used R1 instead for the time being.

I just fast charged my 1 month old R2 at a Tesla (NACS), IONNA (NACS) and Rivian (CCS with adaptor) in quick succession. Everything performed as expected. Plug and Charge worked well at all locations. Then back to a Level 2 at home with no issues.
Similar, I have charged our R2 at a couple Tesla (NACS) superchargers just to make sure DCFC works (and my home Tesla HPWC handles were a bit tight). Certainly there are enough out there now including in the hands of content producers that we would hear more if this was a wide-spread problem.

That said, I'm encouraged now to find the opportunity to do it at a lower state of charge and for longer just to stress test it as well. 😅 I'de rather find out before if there is an issue before needing it. DCFC was already on my short-list of things to make sure works and I'de encourage anyone else to do the same taking new delivery, not because of Rivian or R2 specifically, but I've done on every EV we've bought (or considered buying).

We passed on both a used Model 3 and used Model S for failures/error codes at DCFC (related to cooling). In both cases the dealer did not know, in fact one claimed "yes, we have superchaged it no problem with the Tesla charger in our service bay" ... not realizing the differences between AC/L2 and DC/FC.

No update yet on my issue and I figured I didn't think they'd even get a chance to work on it. I haven't even gotten a call back from the SC where my car was Towed to. Tried to reach out to Customer Care to receive a call back from the SC a couple of times today but not yet.
What does your app say? You should be able to see the service request and you should be able to text with the service advisor. If your vehicle is not completely dead, you should be able to see its current location. If it's in service mode, you will know they have it, and you can still see its last known location.

Well good news they reached out to me this morning and will be looking at the car later today. I saw the service request yesterday/over the weekend but didn’t see a way of reaching out to a service advisor through any sort of message portal, maybe I missed something there? Either way it’s moot now that they did reach out, I was able to accept the service request estimate.

As for location, it doesn’t show it on the app because I think I need to enable something in the car to allow the app to share location? I was kind of baffled that I needed to do that but I didn’t think to check that until after I had left it to be towed.
Still shows this in the app.

I would be more interested in a very detailed analysis of what happened to the car instead of just "we are so sorry, we fixed your car!"

Do Rivian shares detailed reports like traditional service departments?

Kinda silly all the people commenting about how it's ok but they don't own an R2 to begin with. They'll fix the R2 for the OP for sure but obviously things aren't worked out fully on this vehicle.

Rivian has reliability and build issues if you look at their history. Lots of R1's breaking down out of the gate. Their warranty service has gotten much better for issues but out of warranty there is effectively zero support for getting parts and getting things fixed other than Rivian. Their markup on many parts is 10X. Meanwhile Tesla is basically open source.

Part of it all is Rivian in the same boat as many modern cars with more complex electronics. If you owned an older Toyota and buy a newer one, the chance of failures is higher in the new ones, more costly to fix and more problematic to fix.
Kinda silly for all of the people commenting otherwise that don't have an R2.

Mine was doing that for a while earlier. I'm guessing it's a server side issue if it hasn't been like this since delivery.

Since I’ve only had the car for less than a day I didn’t check if it ever worked until after I left the car to be towed. I could’ve sworn I saw a message saying I needed to enable something in the car to be able to show the location. Either way, I haven’t been able to track it for days since I’ve left it. Might be another thing ill bring up with the service team if it is in fact not supposed to be that way.

Yes, there are privacy and data sharing setting in the vehicle. Sharing is opt-in, as it should be.

Yes. It will be in the app and downloadable and will stay in your service history in the app so you can always go back and see it. None of those greasy sheets of paper that you filed a year ago and now you can't find anymore.

Yeah not used to that with having had other cars. Logically as the owner of the car I would think that’s automatically enabled for me but what do I know.

There would have been outrage if this was on by default, because then Rivian would have been tracking your vehicle without your permission. We've demonized entire countries over the mere fear that they *might* do something like this.

But you only had your R2 for a day, so you never got the chance to delve into all the settings and features. It's going to take a while sitting in your garage to find out and decide how you want your vehicle configured. There are always posts here about people just finding out about certain features even after owning their Rivian for a long time - there's a lot to explore. Don't overlook the most important setting: #teamowl
