I don't see it as a rant. He's simply saying that Rivian saw his reservation and decided not to give him an earlier spot. No biggie, he has an R2 to test, so he's going to put his money elsewhere. There's Gen 3 R1s coming next month, no? There are plenty of other cars he can spend the money on to test, so why spend $60,000 on a car that he's about to test without paying? He's a happy R1 owner. Maybe he's going to use that money on an R3X when it comes out? Whatever, I think people are feigning getting the vapors over a joke.

I’m not defending Kyle but I think some people are missing his point. I don’t think Kyle was saying he should jump the line because of his YT channel. His point is that as a reservation holder from the first second and a Rivian owner, his order invite should have been sooner. As should have every other second one current Rivian owner’s invite.

The “I’m not buying one now” was unnecessary even if from a business perspective it makes sense for the channel.

It will be interesting to skim the videos that will come from his testing and see how the R2 stacks up.

Was this announced and I missed it? I assumed the Gen3 R1 would hit production next year after the plant shutdown. But I have not seen anything either way. Have you?

I made a reservation the same time as him and have owned a Rivian R1T for longer. I am still waiting to order (likely in the next few weeks) so Kyle is completely wrong thinking he SHOULD have been able to order by now. There were tens of thousands who reserved early on March 7th and own a Rivian. He is not special. There have been only a few thousand orders (and even less deliveries at this point ).

Bummer seems to be that it looks like RAIN all weekend in NC, not sure exactly where they are. Clearly that last video with the car up on the lift indicates it was raining heavily outside before they brought the car in…

So,…that will affect things like driving efficiency, handling, the track testing, etc.. so some or much of the drive efficiency data will have to have an * asterisk.

I guess the track is near Garysberg, NC.. that seems like it will get LESS rain than other parts of the state, so hopefully, they’ll sequence the racy bits for late Sunday, Monday, Early Tuesday if they have the window with the vehicle owner.

I'm personally more interested in seeing how the R2 handles on those Pirelli's if indeed they're testing in the rain. More useful for me to know than yet another 0-60 test on a dry track.

To be fair to Kyle, he has been listening to the criticism and has stopped talking over people so much. He has been letting Scot lead more in reviews and I’ve noticed him holding back and letting her (and others) finish her thoughts before chiming in.

With that said, I love his content and his videos are informative. So that outweighs any pet peeves for me.

Comes off like a petty child who can't get the toy he wanted "Well I never wanted it anyways!". The fact he is upset that Rivian isn't giving him a financial leg up by letting them skip the line is ridiculous.

That is absolutely not what happened - he said he’s not getting one because he doesn’t need to anymore because many of his friends will allow him to test and do reviews - so he no longer needs to buy one. There was no bitching like a baby about it.
