Looking forward to the upcoming coverage. The videos are usually long (I watch at 1.5-2x speed), and I get that some don't like his style.

I don't agree with all of his takes, but there aren't many reviewers who know more about EVs imo. He's pretty solid on ICE vehicles and driving dynamics as well.
I mentioned earlier in this thread, I like Kyle (more so his old roadtrip videos) but I can absolutely see how he can be off-putting.

Primarily, he talks too much and constantly talks over people. I used to do the same before I realized that even if I know what someone is going to say, I should let people finish their thought, otherwise its not a conversation.

At the end of the day, its clear he has automotive knowledge and is passionate about cars but he would do better taking some constructive criticism and refining his videos. More concise to the point content and less overall channels would help his brand (stop throwing every idea at a new YouTube channel to see what sticks).

Lol people complaining about Kyle complaining is RICH based on the temper tantrums I've seen from people on here about not get an invite :CWL: pot, meet kettle
I have no R2 reserved, so therefore no skin in the game...

Kyle is being a baby if he's complaining that he didn't get one sooner.

Forget about Kyle.

What is up with Rivian not being up front with problems with Riviantracker's initial assigned vin? Zonal architecture issues, then hearing it was in the body shop.
Every car company does these kind of small fixes in the Pre-Delivery inspection without you even knowing about it as a buyer. A car could get a small scratch in transit and it has to go to the body shop. This is the rare instance we heard anything.

IIRC, there may be a $ limit in some state laws or even some internal OEM policy. So if it's a very large $ issue, it may have to be disclosed.

I don’t think he actually complained anymore than anyone on here has. I watch a bunch of his videos and he seemingly bemoaned the same alleged “criteria” as everyone else has done. He has owned and still owns multiple Rivians and reserved literally the second it went live, yet has no invite. He loves Rivian the same as anyone on here does and was upset same as everyone else. I haven’t seen anywhere where he “whined” about it.

Sure, if you like watching hours upon hours of unedited, stream of consciousness, content.

He wanted to make sure his hurt feelings were known to Rivian with a little "screw you".
Agreed, they are definitely a LEFT ARROW, and RIGHT ARROW type of YouTube content, but the value and ADVANTAGE is that they are without question extremely comprehensive and methodically done. there’s really no “maybe” or variance in the what is often considered simple application or process.. it’s definitely not as easy as it might appear.

So, left arrow, right arrow is your friend, and one can get through a 45 min video in about 8-10 minutes and get the content that is of richest value to YOU, or some other viewers and move on.

The "whining" comes from him stating he won't buy a vehicle. Lets be real, he will eventually get one. But to say first that he didn't understand why he didn't get one early then transition into "I won't buy an R2, I have many friends getting them, I'll just use theirs." is whining.

No need to add that explanation. Just create the content with a vehicle that someone graciously offered you to utilize so you can be among the first to monetize content and move on.

I rewatched the video because I didn't notice the part where he was "whining" about not getting his on the first playthrough. It's about 12:20 for those that are interested. I definitely didn't see it as "whining." It's clear that peoples' feelings for the guy are clouding how they're interpreting that part of the video. 🤷‍♂️

Look, we can beat this horse to death, but he clearly whined. He even stated "Rivian looked at my name on the list and said NOPE!". and "Now we don't have to get one anymore!" He is adding that commentary because he was clearly annoyed he didn't get one early.

You can criticize Rivian all you want on their invite list and prioritizing ending leases or whatever but he is not the only one that is in that situation and shouldn't get priority so he gets the financial benefit to monetize content early.

I've been watching him since pre-covid days when he did regular roadtrips on his Out of Spec Motoring channel with his long time ex Alyssa. I enjoyed his early content and still watch the occasional video now, but I have no problems calling it like it is.

There are so many people putting content out there, I dont pay much attention to one in particular. I honestly wouldn't know who this guy was if it wasnt for threads like this. We all have first-world problems. Looks like he has his.

I've said before Kyle's info from when he was one of, if not the first, to get an R1T for a week is hi on the list of reason's I kept my reservation.

But he's pretty open that he's not getting an R2 because he will be able to make all the videos he needs for his channel with Jose's and other peoples cars. So what he needed from a business standpoint is to get an R2 early to feed his channel content before other competitors.

He can still "call up Rivain in Normal" and get an extra set of wheels not just thrown in the back for testing but changed out on Jose's car. He can contact Jeff Hammoud, Rivian Chief Design Officer directly re: wheel specs. It seems to me that Jose getting another VIN "immediately" was perhaps a special accommodation. It can't be noted enough that trouble like Jose's 1st VIN happens all the time with dealer focused manufacturers.

So it doesn't seem to me to that Rivian is trying to "be mean" to Kyle or Jose. Or that the symbiotic relationship is broken.

As far as R2 deliveries not going well, Kyle notes that what Rivian is experiencing is common with new models across the industry. We don't really know the extent of any issues statistically right now - but we will soon.

These kinds of issues are a lot more exposed with Rivian's direct "just in time" delivery model. VINs are assigned before the vehicle gets to its destination. Not intended as an excuse (bumper color anyone!) but some things are going to happen shipping and at the location. Jose's 1st VIN going to the body shop for example.

I'm looking forward to both Kyle's and Jose's perspective, especially on the current state of R2 software. Jose gets an early version of software releases so perhaps he will have something other R2 owners don't yet.

He may get an R2 eventually, but Scot doesn’t want one and doesn’t really like it compared to R1. They’ve been talking about getting a MYRWD with FSD to have as a great commuter car. So if he can get his content for R2 from other peoples car he doesn’t have to get one. He probably wants something like R2X or R3X anyways.
