I’m about to pull the trigger on a R1S Quad , trying to see if we have any Rivian insiders that might be able to tell me the service history on the VIN. The CarFax is showing minor damage, the dealer is telling me it was a bumper repair. I also am trying to confirm if it’s a Launch Edition. Dealer is still waiting to take it on trade so havent’ been able to do a video call with them to see it fully.

If any RIV insiders here can do a VIN look up send me a DM :)

I suggest calling your local service center, if your dealer is close to one, and ask them if they will do an inspection. If so, schedule an inspection on your test drive. Once you're the owner, you can pull the entire service history, but I suspect there are privacy concerns about releasing this info to a potential buyer. Maybe the dealer can request (service history, not the repairs details)?
As for the damage, aside from a Rivian SC inspection, there's one thing working for you: Rivians are notoriously expensive to repair, so anything huge likely would have totaled the vehicle. You didn't mention salvaged title, which is an entirely different animal that I'd stay away from unless you are getting at least 50% off retail.
It might be worth calling Rivian to confirm that a warranty exists for that VIN#. She's beautiful, BTW. The R1 is an amazing vehicle.

... I also am trying to confirm if it’s a Launch Edition...
When the dealer gets it there is a Launch Edition badge on the passenger side dash. Easy for them to confirm. Good news it is possible since it is in 2 of the color/interior combos LE was offered on Gen 2.
Beautiful looking R1S. I hope everything checks out for you!

thanks
I got the service history via a contact. Only recall work done to date and no other issues. Rear bumper was replaced in a minor whoopsie.

That is not a LE... That is a Gen 2 quad with 1025hp... you can tell by the VIN, brake color, storm blue and dash color. That is way better in my opinion.

Were you aware that Rivian started selling launch editions again in Jul'25, just for Gen2 quads, just in two colors, Storm Blue and Launch Green? I don't have direct evidence of the VIN decisions, but I suspect the VIN numbers for these were mixed up with the Gen 2 duals and Tris rolling off the line at the same time. Based on the color and the mileage on ODO, I'd put money on this being a LE. A quick peek at the right side of the dash could confirm it.

Sorry, but even after you purchase a pre-owned Rivian they will not give you the prior service history, but they will answer questions about previous repairs.

And yes, repairs are expensive but not always resulting in a total loss which is 75%+ of the market value of the vehicle.

FWIW, I had 3 major accidents in the 33 months that I owned my 2023 R1S; the first repair bill was $30k, the second was $33.5k and the 3rd was total loss with a $58k payoffr at 62.5k miles.

The first two repairs were done by a Rivian independent certified repair shop so they wouldn't have showed up on the Rivian service history.

That is disappointing to read, as I had planned to request the service history for my Gen 1 (purchased used), since another forum poster stated that Rivian would provide the lifetime service history. I wanted to factor the list length into my decision on whether to keep my R1T or move to the R2.
For the crash repair history, that was also my understanding; maybe I wasn't clear on my wording. It may be difficult to schedule, but given the large investment in a Gen2 quad, I'd still try to get Rivian SC to look at it, or at least do a nice, long test drive.

They dealer will get it tomorrow and I’ll confirm LE Badge and on the infotainment screen if it shows the lifetime Autonomy+ feature. This is so well priced for a 2026 Quad I’m going to move on it regardless.

Well like I mentioned, they won't send you the service history but they will answer specific questions about it if you call. I called and asked them if my pre-owned 2022 R1T that I bought after I totalled my 2023 R1S had ever had both 12V batteries replaced (yes) or had any suspension or other major repairs (no); however, a month later when I had a mobile service call to replace my tailgate trim piece that came off, the service technician looked up the service history for me and told me that the HV battery pack and control module was replaced back when the 12V batteries were replaced too, so I guess you have to ask them very specific questions when you call.
