TLDR: I will be ordering one as soon as possible.

Had my R2 test demo test drive at noon from the Hudson, NH service center. Very helpful employee. Took a picture of my license. I signed a waiver and I was into the car. None of the interrogation you get at a typical car dealership.

Early build quality issue. There was a loose gasket near the outside lower left of the windshield. Reminder to go over my new car with a fine tooth comb and document any issues as soon as I get it.

I'll need to train myself more on the haptic wheels, especially the right one. No problem with volume up/down, pause play on the left one. Navigating features with the right one was not intuitive.

I'm 6'1". Seat height was perfect for me. No climbing to get in or out. I was able to adjust the seat for my drive quickly. Ventilated seats are cool (pun intended). Driving comfort is great in my opinion. However, reclining far enough to sleep was not as comfortable as my Model Y. I often take naps at rest areas on long drives. I might find some lumbar adjustments that would make it better. I wish I had more time, but the next customers were standing there waiting.

Back seat room is good, but I would be cramped sitting behind someone as tall as myself. Plenty of room sitting behind my wife.

Started out taking Circumferential Highway and Rt 3 down to Tyngsboro. Freeway handling and acceleration fine. Crossed the river in Tyngsboro and went back to the service center by back roads. I did a detour to the boat ramp park in Tyngsboro to get a feel for the car on steep grades. Regen and hill holding is great. Turning radius feels better than my Model Y.

I tried autonomy for about one mile. Regular lane handling fine. A bit of swerving when the road went from one lane on my side to three. I took over then.

My planned order? Launch edition in either launch edition green or forest green. Add root racks. (I'm glad that towing is included in the launch package.)

Efficiency was 3.8m/kwh for my drive.

Surprised by you saying “Back seat room is good, but I would be cramped sitting behind someone as tall as myself. Plenty of room sitting behind my wife.”

All reviews and my own experience (as a 6’1” adult) is that it has class leading space and inches to spare when sitting behind myself. Do you have your seat back tilted way back?

I have a significantly older GX and specifically called out the Mark Levinson system in it as sucking... in this very thread back on page 8 or so.

But also, I've never had a Toyota product with a good stereo. They're notorious for not being able to make a decent sound system.

Toyota gets away with this by making cars that will run forever. Rivian isn't at that point yet, so if I were Rivian I would make it more of a priority to develop better sound.

I wasn't too enthused with the sound system. Tried a few of my test songs. Almost sounds like my 2015 Jag FType before they did the firmware update to correct the sound profile which wasn't properly configured for the car. Highs are too bright and lows not enough punch. Was uncomfortable listening from back seat. Better from front seat.

In short, I'm sold.........
I had been checking locations to demo the R2 for the last week, considering Tampa and Ft Myers, when unexpectedly new-WPB location popped up, so immediately booked 10am today.....spent quite a bit of time in the showroom checking out Catalina Cove / black interior, then demo drive Glacier White / black interior 30 min. In past I've test-driven and considered R1T, R1S, Y, X, but the R2 will be my first EV.
I am going to the new WPB location on Tuesday for my demo drive.

Sorry but something's not adding up here. You must have inordinately long legs for 6'1". I'm 6'2" and sat behind the driver's seat set to MY position and there were several inches in front of me. Several.

There's just shy of 41" of legroom in the back seat.

The guy in this pic is 6'8" and is sitting behind the driver's seat set to his position.

Doug here is 6'4"

I mean, to be fair, Toyota also hasn't created a fully electric off-roader, either.

I'm with you. I am 6'2" and had at least 4" of legroom when sitting behind my driving position.

Looks like Toyota is about to release an EV Highlander. Car & Driver.
This has been known for a couple of months and builds on their refreshed platform with new software and a larger battery pack.
