I tried getting a quote through Progressive with the VIN Rivian provided today and noticed they don't even have the R2 listed. Rivian's in-house coverage (through Nationwide) is significantly higher than what I'm currently paying. Anyone have any luck getting quotes from other insurance providers or will you go with Rivian's insurance?

My insurance agent, Jake from State Farm, was able to get me a quote using the MSRP and some specs of the R2. Had the same problem not being able to use an R2 VIN to look it up. The quote won't be exact but it was a good ballpark estimate.

Travelers Insurance is my preference and pay the extra $40 annually for new vehicle replacement.

I also recommend paying the premium annually via your preferred rewards credit card...set it and forget it.

Oh, this is interesting...I just went back and looked at the quote they gave me and they made the starting date the 26th. I wonder...

Loyal State Farm customer (for decades) here, @aak7268. Include your local State Farm agent in the pricing/bidding process.

State Farm also issued enough insurance documentation, before we took delivery of our R1S and R1T, to satisfy Rivian that it was safe to release our vehicles to us.

Best wishes!

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

Um… I use State Farm as well. How much was it per month?

I got Progressive insured no problem, make sure to say model year 2027 and use the VIN. If you use 2026 it won't find a match. I made that mistake first but then realize the year mistake when getting a quote from Rivian.

Under $700/6mo (three drivers including teen). 500/250/100 comprehensive w $1k deductibles.

Rivian/Nationwide was over $1k.

Ah, nice. I contacted Progressive (my current insurer) and they said to reach back out in 24 hours once they add it to the quote. I did the same as you at first and put 2026. Similar car/driver situation as well.

The rough estimate was about $120 per month, $720 semi-annually. Unclear if that included the multi-car, multi-policy discount or not. He didn’t specify and I forgot to ask at the time.

That’s not bad at all. Thanks for the info.

I just got two quotes. One from American Family (Formerly Connect, and formerly Ameriprise) which I have had for three decades: $1,274.87 for six months. The other is Progressive, which is $2,677.00 for the same term. I'm in Southern California.
