This is an 80s paranoia that has hung on for decades, not new. Might be based on how shitty the place is where you live.
I'm not the OP, and I'm not (for better or worse) a member of the demographic that has to think like OP does, but it's very much a real thing & not just paranoia. I've had co-workers that kept their car keys between their fingers like Wolverine because of past experiences they had.

With all due respect, this is absolutely a fear women live with all the time. Just because you don't (I do not live with this fear, but I'm 6'7" and 225 pounds), doesn't mean it's not real. Frankly, being so dismissive of it paints you as exactly the type of person who adds to those fears.

You assumed a lot that I didn’t say. But I knew that would happen as I typed it.

Then maybe be clearer with what you say. If you don't want us to assume something, make sure we are aware of the context you are speaking, and give us the information you are using when you devise your statement. If you knew that your statement was going to be mis-interpreted as you were writing it, why not revise things so that it wouldn't be? I don't understand why you would want to be misinterpreted!

But what you DID say is that women feeling unsafe when alone is a left-over paranoia from the 80s. I am telling you that's objectively untrue. Women are made to feel unsafe by men all the time. Often those same men are the ones telling the women that they should just "feel safe" and "give me a chance" while pursuing a woman who's trying to get away from them.

But, ya know, just the experiences shared with me by the women in my life.

Yes, it is. I was there in the 80s and again, this is not new.
Way to be dismissive of people's actual experiences. Seriously, it makes you look not great, at best.

While myself and the other user you quoted didn't personally experience things, we know people that have. To dismiss these experiences and stories as "paranoia" discounts what has actually happened to people.

It's a useful learning experience.
It really isn't. If you are wanting to honestly engage someone (or a group, such as in a forum like this) in conversation or discussion on a topic, withholding information so that people have to assume things is actually the opposite of a learning experience! Wanting to be misinterpreted as the outcome of your actions and speech fosters mistrust and suspicion in others.

I didn't, but carry on. Someone lamented "What is the world coming to" and I pointed out it's not new. Nobody has posted their experiences. This is hilarious. And a learning experience. You're making up a lot.

Back on topic, I tested and confirmed that my truck, if auto-unlocked with the one-door setting, will then unlock all doors with a touch in the app. Interesting and thoughtful behavior. But with the home no-unlock and one-door setting, you only get the one door. I guess if you're...ahem...paranoid about this at home...

I'll admit that I mistook your "it's just paranoia" statement to be in regards to how women (and others) can feel unsafe due to vehicle-proximate attacks and assaults and not instead how the world seems or actually be worse off or not. But the you stated that your made your phrasing ambiguous on purpose, and it proceeded to rub me the wrong way, considering the serious nature of the things being discussed.

I'm gonna leave things at that & move on with my day now.

your "it's just paranoia" statement

VERY important difference, and trying to understand why people change meanings of carefully chosen words is a challenge.

On top of this, the entire security aspect is something I got wrapped up in years ago, and could not find any evidence that four-door unlock was commonly being leveraged as a crime opportunity. I got involved with doing some early testing and development with CompuStar, the first remote start and security people.
