Is there another car that doesn't collect debris anywhere?? But it's a pet peeve specific to the R2, why?
It's my pet peeve here (though time will see if it's justified) - as it's a new and unique location for debris collection. Combined with the slit that the arm moves though - I suspect this will be largely non functional in winter (filled with snow/ice), and worry it will be a cause of warranty issues for Rivian (water ingress to tailgate etc). Though similar to wipers on the front, as there there's a lot more room to breath, rather than potentially get packed down into the gaps.

It amazes me how much out existing R1's collect leaves in the roof channels and surrounding the struts on the frunk - certainly more debris collection than any other vehicle we've owned - the only one I've ever semi-regularly used compressed air to blow leaves/pine needles out from

Overall R2 looks fantastic - this is the one bit that jumped out to me as 'ehh'.

Launching in spring. Does that mean before 4/30?

I wonder if Rivian will do that configure and granting shop access things all over again like when they launched the R1. It was some of the most exciting time for a lot of us. I still remember the moment I saw I had access to the R1 shop I almost screamed. A few days later I saw my exact 100% build in the shop and jumped for it! God it was fun.

Charging curve from the Carwow video is way better than my Gen 1 R1T

What I would really like to know if this is the Dual Motor AWD with Performance option. It having yellow accents, being a launch edition, and power suggests that it is. If this is 656hp, the base AWD Dual motor is probably a good bit less. A model Y Performance is 510hp I believe. This looks to be 200-300lb more

Can't wait to get clarification on it.
This has to be a performance dual motor for launch. I can’t imagine they wont eventually release a more reasonable AWD variant with more range and less power. Time will tell.

Yes. And fold flat front seats....so 3 features they touted and got rid of. Its kinda their thing.
This is what happens during any development cycle. Especially when building something to meet a price point. Obviously it was determined that those were features the masses dont care as much about. I know I personally couldn’t care less about them. They kept a LOT. The interior quality looks very good as well which im happy about.

Overall, it seems like they nailed it, assuming a dual motor with nice options is around $55k.

My only complaint is the damn electronic interior door releases. I'm really not of fan of this type of door release with my kids riding in the car. Assuming it's another hidden manual release in the rear, I may end up holding off until they change back to mechanical.

So for the "base" are we expecting a watered down dual motor, or some sort of single motor option?

All the early reviews seem to indicate the LE dual is going to be an upcharge from the base (which isn't unexpected, given the need to prioritize margin)
Base is going to be a single motor

Wow, I'm surprised the pop-out windows didn't make it. And it would have been peanuts to add a 120V somewhere in the passenger compartment too, that's a miss.

Does the frunk auto-close or is it just a gas-assisted open? No split tailgate either, which I love on my R1S.
Split tailgate went away for the roll-down window. I think it's a fair trade-off since it's a smaller vehicle. I'd rather have the larger overhang of the liftgate in bad weather.

It's my pet peeve here (though time will see if it's justified) - as it's a new and unique location for debris collection. Haven't had leaf issues on the R1 roofs at all, personally.

My main complaints for winter is that the wiper cowl ends up getting iced over if you remote start frequently, and the outside temperatures never get above freezing.

To be fair, this is the first year we've had that situation here, and my GMC is at least as bad here for that, if not worse(but also not an issue on it last winter). I ended up having to chip everything out of the cowl on the GMC, because the wipers stopped even going down to where they are supposed to be. They would settle up on the windshield in view vs being tucked away. At least on the Rivian, defrost would keep the wiper park area clear enough that never started to happen.

Doug's video says the rear wiper drain path is outside the vehicle. I can't tell for sure, but I'm guessing the rear defroster also has an element to heat the rear wiper park area, so it'll probably actually work better than the R1S wiper in extreme cold, since it's somewhat shielded from the wind, and my S's becomes useless if it's in the single digits out.

go drive it, then tell me how 90% of those charging stations don't work.

Glad you took the time to try to call me a liar, nitwit.
How does the Tesla Supercharger network aspect work?
R2 obviously has advantages for that
- 400v
- left rear charger port
- NACS inlet

The real meat was this portion of the CarWow video. Rivian said they still have some BMS work to do on the charging side, but it will achieve a peak of 240kW.

I've included screenshots of the preproduction charging curve 20-83%, which peaked at 190kW, before ramping down.

The change that's supposed to be happening is that the emergency door mechanism will be easier to access. Up front it looks like it's similar to the front of the R1's in that it's a handle. In back it's still a pull-cord, but behind a flap instead of having to remove a full panel.
This has to be a kid thing or a regulation thing. It is VERY common across various brands.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
I'm hoping $57,500 as spec'd to compete with Model Y AWD Perf.

That makes sense, although isn’t it the tri-motor that’s considered the performance model? Who knows how much that will cost, $65K? They can’t go too high or you’re getting into entry-level R1 territory.

I noticed in one of the videos that he was getting 4.9 miles per KW at 44 mph. That seems pretty high to me. I wander what that would equate to at 70 mph.

I just watched it. It drains behind and below the rear light bar.

I have to stop at 100 miles to get the first supercharger then I don’t have enough range to get to the 2nd I’m south of Dallas 30 miles. The first ones too close the 2nd is too far away, they need at least 1-2 more stations to be feasible, would love to go 200 miles then charge but there’s only 1 at 100 then another one 200 ish miles away and who wants to waste 90 min-2 hours charging to 100-% I want to stop and charge 15 min a few times which if they were placed better would be possible as it’s a 400 mile one way drive
