Snow Tires - Hakka R5 vs R5 EV?

I picked up a '23 R1S last month with 22" tires and I'm finally getting around to putting snow tires on this week. I'd like to get the Nokian R5 tires based on reviews here, but the Nokian dealer near me only has the non-EV version. Does anyone run the regular Hakkapeliitta R5 (non-EV) 22" tires and have any advice about whether they will work or if I should keep looking for a shop that sells the R5 EV tires? As I understand it, the difference is range and noise reduction from the foam insert. Anything I'm missing? Thank you!

Aren't they the same? And looking at Nokian's site, they don't differentiate. The only variants in their database are the studded and non-studded versions.

I got my r5 SUV tires for last winter and they are super quiet (quieter than then the scorpions that came stock). It looks like the EV variant is a new thing and as @UnsungZero_OldTimeAdMan said they look to be the same.

Just make sure you are getting the SUV variant and not the non-suv variant as the non-SUV version has a lower weight rating

Looks like the R5 EV has sound absorbing foam inside the tire, but is otherwise the same as the regular R5.

Great, thanks everyone! I'm going to prioritize getting my R5 SUV tires on sooner rather than to spend time trying to find a shop that offers the ones with the foam inserts. Will check Amazon!

The difference is this @riVTian ...R5 EV does not come in the standard Rivian Tire sizes.

I had the R5 SUV last couple winters...best Winter tire option out there.

Depends on size? certain sizes available in R5 isn't available in LT3? Nokia's site is shit. They routinely list sizes that aren't available anywhere.

Plus, as name suggests, LT3 is a LT class tire. Heavier and constructed to meet far greater loads (at higher inflation), up to 3,750 lbs per tire, than the R1's GVWR spread over each tire. Because of this additional heft it's less efficient. And you've already lost some efficiency to winter conditions. Why sacrifice more on a heavier/stronger tire that you don't need to have?

LT3 in LT275/65R20, 126/123 load index, 54 lbs
R5 in 275/60R20 (XL), 116 load index, 40 lbs

I also have the R5’s. They drove great. I took them up to Kicking horse and Lake Louise last winter and they drove wonderfully on snow and were confidence inspiring on highway driving. They’re a little less efficient than the 22 inch tires that came with my Range rims, but surprisingly not that different (I noticed about 0.2 KW/mile difference)

My new to me 2023 R1T came with 22” and I bought 20” snows recommended by TireRack. I bought rims too and will alternate each season. No difference in efficiency from the Pirellis.

I just got the R5's a month ago. We get 200-300 inches of snow each year. they are fantastic, quiet and do not to set the range back at all.

Another plug for performance of the R5 and also, they are not loud so I don't see the need for the EV version. Granted I'm coming from the Pirelli ATs which are known for high noise.
