The sad thing is that, outside of filing a complaint to put in his service jacket, there's not much you can do about this. Police are allowed to falsely accuse and arrest anyone in this country, and they frequently do so. They can hold anyone for a certain number of hours without charges to "investigate" the crime. Some of this is necessary for stopping actual crimes, but this is clearly shit investigative work and room-temperature IQ reasoning.

This is why you should never discuss a criminal act with the police without a lawyer present. Oftentimes, demanding to be represented and having the money actually to get a lawyer is enough to prevent oneself from becoming a victim of this sort of thing.
Exactly. And if you do request a lawyer right away too many departments will hold that against you, claiming it makes you look guilty even though we wouldn't need a lawyer if they could be trusted to do their jobs properly every time. Same thing with their love of polygraph tests that can't be used in court.

I use this one purchased from BB. I prefer to buy some things in the store(not Amazon) to avoid fakes. People say that Amazon mixes sold by Amazon with goods from third party sellers.

Never had any problems.
Is it formatted so one can plug n play? Every time I try to "just" program or sign in something, the "Hamberger" or 3 dots are not there, or the AI instructions do not align with the actual experience. Ok we are all being Beta Tested on, but I am not qualified to Hack the Code to make the IoT into function. I am a Win 11 PC Android guy not Mac or an IT Geek. "GUI me baby" is my saying and skill set..

Sorry for the rant of my extreme but my question needed defining...

I use an SSD, and it works much better than a flash drive—basically, a newer technology computer hard drive in a USB-C enclosure. Mine is 1TB as well.

The SSD is just bigger in size and since the size while sitting in my console is not important, the SSD is better? I got the 2 different flash drives because such was recommended and I'm a sucker, I guess. The speed listed was fast enough but did not work. Is there an SSD that comes with the cable that goes into the console jack? And, is it programed to the needed format?

You have to buy the SSD and an enclosure. I just happened to have an extra SSD because I upgraded my gaming computer a while back. It did need to format, but the Rivian prompted me to do so when I plugged it in.

Im not nearly proficient enough to explain or understand the difference between a SSD and flash memory but they are different and I have heard of people having issues with flash but i haven’t heard of issues with a SSD.

You should be able to get the whole setup for a hundred bucks or so unless you go with a super high speed SSD even still youll be under 2 hundred if you do that.

Thanks, that may be worth the cost and effort. My incident cameras work and record and save to the built in system but do not catch everything. If you honk the horn, I think the built in system captures that time window with cameras on all sides. But I forget to honk!

That woman was much nicer about this than I would have been. That cop should be put on crossing guard duty or fired For incompetence. What would have happened if she didn’t have Gary to save her?
I'd answer your question, but it'd get me banned.

Keep that hard drive plugged. I have accidentally unplugged it a couple of times. Once I let family take the car (because my kids were going with them) and they removed the cable to charge their phone 🤦
As hard as it is to believe, it’s completely legal for cops to lie to you, to force an otherwise false confession. The fact is, that this woman who was wronged and insulted by this cop, she’ll NEVER see or hear any kind of apology. To serve and protect, my aching ass. Apologizing and admitting you were wrong doesn't make you look weak. On the contrary, it shows strenghth of character. It’s the kind of character we’d all like to believe our police have.

It was 2.5 years back, so I don't remember very well. A web search indicates that the car can format the drive to the correct format. It will erase anything on the drive though.

I pulled mine and connected to computer to see the format and it's FAT32. So, you can format it to FAT32 from Windows UI (This PC) and see if it works.

I tried 5 different drives, including a super-fast NVME drive, in an enclosure, that is three times faster than my current drive. My current drive has worked perfectly. It is very small, so it doesn't get jostled by the water bottles in the storage bin. It also has both USB-A and USB-C connectors, which is handy for all my devices.

I think if I can get it to be recognized, I can format it. It would be nice if it formatted it, that there would be a confirmation such was done and a "Next" pop up appear. I guess I need my hand held? or is the boot up just not user friendly?

I got one of those, I used the smaller USB port into the console below the tray. I tried the left one and the right one, but it seemed the wrong something.

Have you confirmed the ports are powered? My ports were nonoperational when I got my car; ditto for the phone charging pads. The SC reconnected a loose wire.

Now that it has power, a message automatically pops up on the center display when I plug in a drive.

I will try to see. I think when I plugged in the flash the dash recognized it, because it said could not connect. But I may have caused it to say that by entering info. My wireless charger works!
